This week, there has been plenty of speculation regarding Thad Moffitt’s future. Moffitt is set to reveal his plans for 2024 in an announcement on Saturday with his grandfather, “The King'' Richard Petty. However, could we already have an answer to those plans?

On Thursday, it was announced that a new Craftsman Series Truck team would debut in 2024, Faction 46 . The team is owned by Logan and Lane Moore and will have a technical alliance with Niece Motorsports. Lane Moore told Eric Esteep on Out Of The Groove that a driver announcement would be coming this week. There are a few reasons to believe that Moffitt is likely that driver;

1. Faction 46 will run the #46 truck. The number 46 ceremoniously belongs to Thad Moffitt in the Petty lineage. The patriarch of the Petty family, Lee, started with the Number 42, and each new Petty for every generation has gone up one number since. Thad ran the 46 car in the ARCA Menards Series in 2021.

2. The colors of the truck on www.faction46.com appear to be red and Petty-esque blue, colors that could certainly fit the iconic Petty theme.

3. Moffit’s plans will be announced Saturday, and Lane Moore said Faction 46 will announce their driver “later this week.”

4. According to the media alert, Richard Petty and Thad Moffitt would be announcing a new NASCAR National Series Team and its alliances.

5. Thad Moffitt has been seemingly counting down to the number 46 this week on his social media. He’s been posting videos of each of his famous family members in their respective cars. (See Below)

6. Finally, when I attempted to share the site www.faction46.com, the link preview seemed to give away that Thad Moffitt could be the driver. (See Below)

If Thad Moffitt is the driver for Faction 46, it would be fitting. Earlier this week, it was announced that the Petty family will be celebrating 75 years in racing in 2024. While Richard Petty still serves as the “Club Ambassador” to Legacy Motor Club, Thad Moffitt appears poised to carry on the Petty legacy on the track 75 years after it began.
