The first was a popular win at his home track of Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., and the second at Watkins Glen International. • Bristol Returns to Two Concrete Races in 2024

By Adam Carabine Ahead of the Bass Pro Shops Night Race, Bristol Motor Speedway announced that the Food City Bristol Dirt Race in 2024 will be returning to the normal concrete surface. Bristol has hosted two dates on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule since it opened in 1961. In 2021, they converted their spring date into a dirt race by covering the track with sawdust and over 23,000 cubic yards of dirt. The inaugural Bristol Dirt race was won by Joey Logano in 2021, followed by Kyle Busch the following year. Christopher Bell rounded out the winners by taking the checkered flag earlier this year. It seems the NASCAR Cup Series dirt experiment is over, for now. Bristol Motor Speedway announced on their X (formerly known as Twitter) account on Friday morning that the two Cup Series dates would both be on concrete starting in 2024. The finalized NASCAR Cup Schedule has not been released yet, so dates are still subject to change.

  • Daniel Hemric Returns to NASCAR Cup Series with Kaulig Racing

LEXINGTON, N.C. (September 15, 2023) – Kaulig Racing announced today that Daniel Hemric is set to return to the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) to pilot the team’s No. 31 Camaro ZL1. Hemric, the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) champion, is currently finishing his second, full-time NXS season with Kaulig Racing and currently competing for the 2023 championship. Hemric previously competed in the NCS full-time in 2019 with Richard Childress Racing, earning the Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors that same year. “This is a big day, and it means so much to my family and me,” said Hemric. “It’s truly special to have an opportunity to do something big with a group of people that want it just as bad as you. It takes heart, and each and every person at Kaulig Racing has it. I’m looking forward to finishing out this season strong and getting right back to work in the off season with everyone at Kaulig Racing.” Hemric joined Kaulig Racing in 2022 to compete for back-to-back NXS titles and made select NCS starts for the team during the 2022 season. Across 47-total NCS starts, Hemric has earned one pole award, one top five, three top-10 finishes and led a total of 22 laps. “They say that tough times don’t last, but tough people do,” said Chris Rice, president of Kaulig Racing. “That rings true with Daniel Hemric. Throughout all the ups and downs the past couple of years, Daniel continues to believe in the Kaulig Racing culture. Over the last few months, we have been asking ourselves, ‘What can make us a better race team?’ We truly believe Daniel can and will continue to make Kaulig Racing better as an organization.” Hemric, the only previous NXS champion in the 2023 playoffs, maintains the qualities team owner, Matt Kaulig looks for in a driver both on and off the track. In 2019, Hemric and his wife, Kenzie, established the Daniel Hemric Be the Change Scholarship with the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Foundation. This scholarship is awarded to a student from Cabarrus or Rowan County that qualifies for financial aid and has chosen a field of study in motorsports, welding, or mechanical engineering. In 2022, Kaulig Giving and Matt Kaulig increased the Hemric scholarship endowment, providing the opportunity to award a second scholarship to a student in need for the first time. “Daniel’s grit and determination both on and off track are what make him such an integral part of our Kaulig Racing family,” said team owner, Matt Kaulig. “Daniel’s competitive edge is what drives him, and his focus on giving back is what grounds him. That’s what has earned him the respect and admiration from his peers at Kaulig Racing, and we will continue to grow with him.” Hemric will continue to compete for the 2023 NXS championship, as the round of 12 kicks off at Bristol Motor Speedway. 2024 partnership information will be announced at a later date. About Kaulig Racing™ Kaulig Racing™ is a full-time multi-car NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) and NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) team, owned by award winning entrepreneur, Matt Kaulig. • 30-Second Read - Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway

By Matt Marr For the second week in a row, pole-sitter Christopher Bell brought the field to the green flag, this time to begin the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway. Martin Truex Jr. quickly brought out the first caution of the day on lap 4 after hitting the wall. It was later found that he had a tire puncture. That was the end of his race, and he finished 36th. Kyle Larson took the lead off of a restart with 11 laps to go in Stage One and was able to fend off Bubba Wallace to win the stage. After starting Stage Two up front, the caution came out for Wallace at lap 108, as he blew a right rear tire. He was able to continue after extensive repairs on pit road. With three to go in Stage Two, Brad Keselowski took the lead over Chase Elliott, and hung on to it over Denny Hamlin to win the stage. Keselowski and Hamlin started the final stage side by side with 96 laps remaining. Hamlin had built a sizeable lead, but the tire issues continued, and Chris Buescher blew a tire and brought out the caution with just 7 laps remaining. Hamlin’s lead was erased. On the ensuing caution, Hamlin took four tires, while some took only two, or even stayed out. Daniel Suarez and Erik Jones led the overtime restart with two laps to go. Also on four fresh tires, Tyler Reddick made a last lap pass going three-wide around Erik Jones and Joey Logano to win the Hollywood Casino 400. Reddick joins Kyle Larson in being locked into the round of 12. Hollywood Casino 400 top 5: 1. Tyler Reddick 2. Denny Hamlin 3. Erik Jones 4. Kyle Larson 5. Joey Logano Notable Drivers: 10. • LEGACY MOTOR CLUB™ Signs John Hunter Nemechek to Drive the No. 42 in 2024

Press Release | LEGACY MOTOR CLUB STATESVILLE, N.C. (September 6, 2023) -- LEGACY MOTOR CLUB™ today announced on FOX Sports 1’s award-winning show “NASCAR Race Hub” that John Hunter Nemechek will drive the No. 42 NASCAR Cup Series entry when the Club transitions manufacturers from Chevrolet to Toyota in 2024. The 26-year-old driver will join teammates Erik Jones and LEGACY M.C. co-owner Jimmie Johnson, who plans to drive a limited schedule once again in 2024. “To be able to announce my plans for next season so early and officially say I will be competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series relieves a lot of pressure,” Nemechek said. “There is so much to be done for next year, and this gives us the opportunity to get the news out there and move forward. Also, driving for Maury (Gallagher), Jimmie (Johnson) and Richard Petty is a dream come true for me.” LEGACY MOTOR CLUB’s chief executive officer Cal Wells III has kept an eye on the young driver since the very beginning of his career on four wheels. “John Hunter has been around a racetrack literally since the day he was born,” Wells III said. “I have watched him since he was a little kid – from walking around the track in a firesuit matching the one worn by his father - to becoming the talent he is today. He is a perfect fit for the Club and I expect great things out of him.” Co-owner Johnson and “Front Row Joe” Nemechek were teammates at Hendrick Motorsports in 2002 and 2003, as the elder Nemechek drove the No. 25 entry in the Cup Series. John Hunter was just five years old at that time. “We’re excited to have John Hunter in the LEGACY MOTOR CLUB family and I can’t wait to see what he can do in the No. 42 next season,” said Johnson. “He is impressive both on and off the track and will be a great ambassador for LEGACY M.C. and our partners. He will be a solid teammate to Erik (Jones) and I can’t wait to watch them both compete for wins and championships for years to come.” John Hunter is a legacy race car driver but is also busy creating a legacy of his own. Nemechek began racing go-karts and quarter Midgets at the young age of five. In 2012, Nemechek raced Late Models and Super Late Models within the American Speed Association Midwest Tour and at the age of 15, he won the 2012 Allison Legacy Race Series Championship, winning 15 out of 18 races. In 2013, Nemechek made his NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) debut at the age of 16, driving the No. 22 Toyota Tundra for his family-owned team, SWM-NEMCO Racing. In 2014, Nemechek competed in ten NCTS events and capped off the season by winning the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. On September 19, 2015 - 16 years to the day his father Joe won his first NASCAR Cup Series race - the young Nemechek won his first Truck Series race at Chicagoland. He was voted the “Most Popular Driver” later that year in the series. In 2018, Nemechek signed on to drive in the Xfinity Series for Chip Ganassi Racing and then with GMS Racing in 2019 for their Xfinity program. He competed in Trucks and Xfinity until 2019 and was called up to the Cup Series to compete full-time in 2020. After a year where he saw only three top-10 finishes, Nemechek made the tough decision to return to the Truck Series full-time, where he knew he could be competitive and had the chance to win each weekend and signed on with Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM). “Going back to the Truck Series was humbling in a way, but it was the best thing I ever did for myself and my career,” said Nemechek. “I was able to compete for wins and two championships for KBM where we won races and were consistently one of the teams to beat week in and week out.” Nemechek indeed became mentally and physically stronger by going back to the truck series and continued to share success in his craft. After two top-five finishes in the championship points in 2021 and 2022, Nemechek was signed by Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2023 season to compete full-time for the team’s Xfinity program. He currently has five wins, 12 top-five, and 18 top-10 finishes to date, ranking second in the series point standings heading into Kansas. From a career standpoint, in the Truck Series, Nemechek has 13 career wins, nine pole positions, 51 top-five, and 82 top-10s in 149 starts. In the Xfinity Series, he has achieved seven wins, three pole positions, 29 top-five, and 55 top-10 finishes in 92 starts and counting. Nemechek is a native of Mooresville, N.C., and resides in the area with his wife Taylor, and young daughters Aspen and Penelope. NASCAR heads to Kansas Speedway this weekend where Nemechek will compete in the Xfinity Series event on Saturday, Sept. 9, as that series ramps up their playoffs to determine the 2023 champion. His role within LEGACY MOTOR CLUB will commence once the 2023 season is complete.
