- Scrappers Sisters Deliver Stellar Performances at NHRA Gatornationals
Press Release | SCRAPPERS RACING The Scrappers Sisters, Jasmine Salinas and Jianna Evaristo, delivered impressive performances to start the year when the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season kicked off at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals last weekend at Gainesville Raceway. Despite unpredictable weather, team shakeups, and a marathon of delays, both drivers showed grit and determination to leave Gainesville with career milestones and momentum. After a few delays during qualifying Friday, Jasmine’s first attempt was cut short when her dragster’s safety box failed, preventing her from making a run. Undeterred, her team regrouped for the second qualifying attempt, delivering a strong lap of 3.759 seconds at 331.61 mph to secure the No. 10 spot. Jianna powered her Valley Services Scrappers Racing Buell to a solid run of 6.839 at 200.77 to land in the No. 6 qualifying position. Persistent rain on Saturday forced NHRA officials to cancel the remaining qualifying sessions, locking in the fields for Sunday’s eliminations. On race day, Jasmine delivered a career-best performance in Top Fuel, advancing to her first-ever semifinal appearance. She opened eliminations with a commanding win over Shawn Reed, running a 3.753 at 330.23 against his 4.100 at 275.79. In the quarterfinals, Jasmine lined up against Dan Mercier. Despite Mercier getting a slight starting line advantage, Jasmine outpaced him by the time they passed the tree and kept her lead all the way to the stripe to advance to the semifinals behind the wheel of her 12,000-horsepower Valley Services Scrappers Racing machine. Facing Shawn Langdon in the semifinals, Jasmine put up a good fight against the former Top Fuel world champion, but her run of 3.777 at 328.94 was not enough for Langdon’s 3.727 at 332.84. Nevertheless, it was a stellar start to Jasmine’s sophomore season in Top Fuel. She’s leaving Florida with a fourth place points standing and a spot in the upcoming Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, where she’ll get a rematch against Langdon in Phoenix. “I’m very proud of our team this weekend,” said Jasmine. “We came into the season with a smaller crew including two new members who had never worked on a race car before. Everyone stepped into new roles, and we also had some outside help from Joe Diasio, who was part of Austin Prock’s 2024 championship team. Together, Rob Flynn, Troy Fasching and Adem Cave worked incredibly hard to get this group functioning as a team. “After only going four rounds in 19 races last season, to go three rounds in our first race of 2025 really shows that we’re moving in the right direction. We know there’s still a lot of work ahead, but this weekend proved that all the challenges we faced last year were worth it.” In Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations, Jianna delivered a strong opening-round win against Marc Ingwersen with a stellar 6.809-second pass at 199.88 mph. In the quarterfinals, she launched off the starting line with a lightning-quick .004-second reaction time against her teammate and mentor, Angie Smith, but her 6.872 pass wasn’t quite enough to hold off Smith’s quicker 6.810. “I think we had a really strong weekend,” Jianna remarked. “Of course, I would have loved to go more rounds, but overall, this was a solid start to the season. My team and I brought competitive bikes to the track and I believe we proved that this weekend. If anything, this was just the beginning for us—we have a long season ahead, and I know we’re ready to kick some butt. Now, with six weeks until our next race, we have valuable time to fine-tune our program, make improvements, and come back even stronger.” While Jianna won’t return to competition until the NHRA Four-Wides in Charlotte at the end of April, Jasmine is focused on carrying her momentum into the NHRA Arizona Nationals in Phoenix next week. - Shumake Returns to The Valley in Iconic Fry’s Food Stores Dragster With High Expectations
Press Release | SHUMAKE RACING Phoenix native and NHRA Top Fuel driver Travis Shumake is set to ignite his 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season with a return to his home track, Firebird Motorsports Park, for the NHRA Arizona Nationals, March 21-23. Coming off a series of low 3.70-second passes at 324+ mph, Shumake is eager to show his hometown crowd the progress he’s made since his Top Fuel debut at this event last spring. Shumake announced earlier today that Fry’s Food Stores will return as the primary sponsor of his 12,000-horsepower dragster. Shumake launched his Top Fuel career in the Fry’s Dragster at last year’s Arizona Nationals, competing in front of a sellout crowd and facing four-time world champion Steve Torrance in the first round. "We are thrilled to join Travis for his 2025 campaign to return home for the Arizona Nationals, saying yes was an easy decision," said Monica Garnes, president of Fry’s Food Stores. "Arizona is home to passionate motorsports fans who take pride in seeing the iconic Fry’s logo represented in the fastest racing on earth." “Beyond the track, Travis is an incredible ambassador for our brand—whether he’s engaging with the community at events or bringing excitement to our stores, he genuinely connects with both our associates and customers. What he has accomplished in his rookie season, both on and off the track, inspires us all to live our dreams,” Garnes added. Shumake acknowledges that his first season was a learning experience, both as a driver and team owner. "I learned a lot last season, that’s for sure. On and off the track, I was constantly finding my footing. I’ve owned this car for over two years, but I’m still in my Top Fuel infancy. To put it into perspective—a full-time Top Fuel driver averages 120+ laps in a single season. I’ve made 16 in my life. Even at 6’4” and 205 pounds, I’m really still just a giant Top Fuel baby." Despite his relative newcomer status, Shumake enters Phoenix with confidence, following a strong finish to the 2024 season that saw both he and fellow fan favorite Gary Pritchett consistently clocking low 3.70-second passes approaching 325 mph in his dragster. "Five out of our last six passes, we’ve run under a 3.73. Troy Fasching, Adem Cave, and Rob Flynn have this thing on rails, and we aren’t hurting parts—which is great for my wallet," Shumake said. He credits the Scrappers Racing team, who run his program as a team car with Jasmine and Mike Salinas, for the late season success. (Photo Courtesy Shumake Racing)

Press Release | NHRA The Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge returns to the 2025 NHRA season, and the first matchups in the Saturday specialty event are set for March 22 as part of the 40th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals, which takes place March 21-23 at Firebird Motorsports Park in Phoenix. The unique challenge, which offers a bonus purse and bonus championship points, enters its third year in 2025, bringing competitive racing to the qualifying schedule during the next 13 regular-season events in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. The Challenge pits semifinalists from the previous race against each other, with the two winners matching up as part of Saturday’s final qualifying session, offering added drama and excitement for fans in attendance the rest of the regular season. Reigning world champion Antron Brown is off to a red-hot start after winning in Gainesville. With Steve Torrence not racing in Phoenix, that means a matchup with racing legend Tony Stewart in the opening round of the Challenge. The other Top Fuel matchup features defending Phoenix winner Shawn Langdon meeting Jasmine Salinas. She scored her first semifinal appearance in Top Fuel in Gainesville, meaning Salinas will also make her Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge debut in Phoenix. “I’m so excited to compete in my first Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge! We showed a lot of consistency in Gainesville, and I think it’s going to help us when we line up against Langdon for the rematch,” Salinas said. “He’s a former world champ with killer reaction times. There’s definitely an intimidation factor that I’ll need to overcome mentally, but that’s what I love about this sport. It’s called a challenge for a reason, and we are doing everything we can to be ready for it.” She is one of the 12 drivers competing across three categories (Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock) in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge at Firebird Motorsports Park, which celebrates 40 years of NHRA action at this year’s national event. In the Funny Car ranks, Chad Green, who won his second career race last weekend in Gainesville, beat four-time champ Matt Hagan in the semifinals, setting up a marquee rematch in Phoenix. The other semifinal matchup features three-time world champ and Gainesville runner-up Ron Capps and Alexis DeJoria, who won the first-ever Funny Car Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge in 2023. The Pro Stock Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge features one of the longest rivalries in category history, as defending world champion Greg Anderson meets Jeg Coughlin Jr. The other semifinal features a pair of KB Titan Racing teammates in Gainesville winner Dallas Glenn and rising Pro Stock star Cory Reed. Last year in Pomona, Langdon (Top Fuel), Austin Prock (Funny Car), and Anderson (Pro Stock) grabbed wins in Phoenix, while Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel), J.R. Todd (Funny Car,) and Erica Enders (Pro Stock) won the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge. This year’s race will be broadcast on FS1, including eliminations coverage on Sunday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. ET. Langdon, a former Top Fuel champion, earned his first win last season, while contenders to watch include former champ Doug Kalitta, reigning world champ Brown, Clay Millican, Brittany Force, and Justin Ashley, as well as Stewart. Prock’s Phoenix triumph marked his first career Funny Car win. The defending champ struggled in Gainesville, but he’ll look to get on track in Phoenix against John Force Racing teammate Jack Beckman, Hagan and Capps, Green, Todd, and Bob Tasca III. Anderson earned his sixth world title at the NHRA Finals in a winner-take-all final over Glenn. Last year’s race featured that same matchup, with Anderson earning the win. Other Pro Stock stars include Aaron Stanfield and Enders. The NHRA Arizona Nationals also features thrilling competition in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, the Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, and the Legends Nitro Series. - Ampm Sponsoring Denny Hamlin In Two Races In 2025
Press Release | JOE GIBBS RACING Joe Gibbs Racing announced today that ampm, a top-ranked C-store brand based on the west coast, will be featured as the primary sponsor of Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota Camry XSE for a pair of NASCAR Cup Series races later this season at Sonoma Raceway (July 13) and Las Vegas Motor Speedway (October 12). ampm operates more than 1,000 stores, primarily on the west coast, serving nearly 2,200 different products. The company was founded in Southern California in 1978 and has grown to become a leading C-store across multiple states. ampm prides itself on introducing innovative technology to provide a faster and easier shopping experience for its customers no matter the time of day or meal they are looking for. This marks ampm’s first foray into motorsports sponsorship. “We’re looking forward to introducing ampm to the motorsports world,” said Hamlin. “It’s exciting to have a first-time partner come on and be able to showcase their business to our fanbase. It’s a great looking paint scheme and I can’t wait to get it on the track at Sonoma and Las Vegas later this year.” Hamlin is competing in his 20th full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series. He is tied for 12th on the all-time wins list with 54 victories, including three wins last year. Early in the new season, Hamlin currently sits seventh in the Cup Series standings following a runner-up finish in last Sunday’s race at Phoenix Raceway. In addition to its partnership with Hamlin this season, ampm will also sponsor Ty Gibbs’ No. 54 Toyota Camry XSE in a NASCAR Cup Series race next season. (Photo Courtesy NASCAR)
- Casey Mears Driving For Garage 66 at Martinsville
Press Release | GARAGE 66 Just 11 starts shy of 500 NASCAR Cup Series races, Casey Mears will return to action on March 30, when he takes to the track for the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway. He will pilot the No. 66 HitchGO Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Garage 66, a team co-owned by NASCAR mainstay, Carl Long. HitchGO, a mobile RV repair, camper and trailer services company with coverage in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and beyond, will serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 66 Ford Mustang. Mosby’s Towing and Transport, and Coble Enterprises will ride along with Mears as major associate sponsors. If Mears can achieve this prestigious milestone, he will become just the 48th driver in NASCAR Cup Series history to surpass the 500-start mark. The only active drivers who share this status are Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Michael McDowell. Mears carries with him one of the most recognized names in auto racing. A NASCAR Cup Series winner, he has also captured four Cup Series Pole Awards, including the 2004 Brickyard 400, where he set the track record. Versatility being a cornerstone for Mears, he was the first full-time NASCAR driver to achieve an overall victory at the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona (2006). In his return to desert racing in 2019, he won his class and finished third overall at the NORRA 1000, before posting a 12th place finish in the highly challenging Trophy Truck Class at the famed Baja 1000, which he ran in 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024. Mears looks forward to visiting the historic Martinsville Speedway while he chases history of his own. “I’m happy to be back in a race car and look forward to returning to Martinsville, one of my favorite tracks,” Mears said. “I appreciate Carl working with me to make it happen; he’s a well-respected, great guy who’s worked hard to experience longevity in the sport. I’m excited to have HitchGO, Mosby’s Towing and Transport, and Coble Enterprises on board as we chip away at 500 NASCAR Cup Series starts.” Carl Long, a fixture in the sport for nearly three decades, is excited to partner with Mears on his quest to eclipse 500 Cup Series starts. “Having Casey Mears drive a Garage 66 car is a proud day for our organization,” Long said. “He’s driven for NASCAR’s elite, such as Chip Ganassi Racing, Hendrick Motorsports and Richard Childress Racing. Adding Garage 66 to that list means a lot to me and everyone who’s helped build our team.” He continued, “Casey and I first connected many years ago when I was driving and he always treated me and our fellow competitors with respect on and off the track. He hails from a historic racing family, but it’s not something he boasts about. He always takes time for everyone, which is indicative of his character. I love having the opportunity to work with good people, especially when they drive fast. I’m excited to get to Martinsville with Casey and have a successful weekend for HitchGO, Mosby’s Towing and Transport, and Coble Enterprises.” (Photo Courtesy NASCAR)
