A look at the Top Ten in our weekly Power Rankings, plus the biggest movers! While finishing position is important, it’s not always indicative of the full picture.  StatChat rankings are determined using a large number of statistical inputs, with an emphasis placed on the most recent 5 races.

Ross Chastain – This week: 10 – Last week: 11

It feels like the broadcast didn’t cover Ross Chastain much on Sunday, but he had a sneaky Top-10 finish.  He also had the best passing differential of any driver on the track.

Bubba Wallace – This week: 9 – Last week: 10

It’s rare that you finish two laps down and move up a spot in the Power Rankings, but Bristol was a weird race.  Bubba’s 2-laps down were still good enough for a P19.  His day wasn’t terrible.

Joey Logano – This week: 8 – Last week: 6

It was a weird day for Logano on Sunday.  While Bubba Wallace’s finish was more a question of the strategy not going his way, Logano just didn’t seem to have the right car from the start of the race.  He finished 3 laps down, and scored exactly 0 quality passes (passes in the Top 15).

Tyler Reddick – This week: 7 – Last week: 5

Reddick, along with his teammate Bubba Wallace, went with the long-pit strategy and were hoping for a caution at some point in that final stage.  It wasn’t to be, and Reddick finished P18.

Chase Elliott – This week: 6 – Last week: 4

Another quiet day for Chase Elliott, as he wasn’t really seen much on TV either.  He finished in the Top 15, which is respectable, but his underlying numbers didn’t really show much promise either.

Ryan Blaney – This week: 5 – Last week: 7

Blaney was the leader of the alternate strategy at Bristol.  And while it didn’t work out the way he hoped, he managed to salvage a Top 5 out of it, better than any of the other long-pitters.  He had a fast car, and led 48 laps, but Larson was unbeatable.

Christopher Bell – This week: 4 – Last week: 3

A totally respectable day for Christopher Bell at Bristol – he finished inside the Top 10, and earned some stage points along the way.  When a P8 drops you a spot in the Power Rankings, you know things are going pretty well.

Kyle Larson – This week: 3 – Last week: 8

A dominant performance by Larson at Bristol, he led 411 laps, had an average running position of 2nd, and was the fastest car on track 85 times.  All of these stats were the top of any driver on Sunday.  This is now two wins in his last five races, and if it hadn’t been for the DNF at Darlington the week prior, he might be your Power Rankings leader this week.

Denny Hamlin – This week: 2 – Last week: 2

Denny comes up one position shy of the three-peat, though after the race he seemed happy to even be in the conversation after how dominant Larson’s car had been.  He earned 15 stage points, and had some really solid underlying numbers.  This team should be happy and feel like they’ve got some good momentum on their side.

William Byron – This week: 1 – Last week: 1

Byron again retains the top spot in our Power Rankings after a solid but quiet day at Bristol.  While his average running position was only about Top-15 pace, he managed to eke out a P6 to maintain his spot upon the top.  Will he be able to hold onto it after Talladega in two weeks?

Biggest Movers

Justin Haley – This week: 21 – Last week: 29
