  • 30 Second Read: 2024 Pennzoil 400

By Matt Marr Joey Logano brought the field to the green flag starting from the pole position - his third week in a row qualifying on the front row. An early caution came out for Christopher Bell as his right rear tire went down. On the ensuing restart, William Byron made an impressive move to go from 8th to 1st in a single lap. The caution came back out at lap 29 as Chris Buescher lost his right front tire and lug nut. A ten-minute red flag was eventually shown as crews had to weld the SAFER barrier back together. On lap 48 Byron had to make an emergency pit stop to remove a trash bag that had found its way to his front grille.  He narrowly avoided overheating. Kyle Larson passed Kyle Busch for the lead on lap 62 and led the remaining 19 laps to win Stage One. Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin led the start of Stage Two on lap 89. Bell brought out the caution for the second time spinning off of turn two late in the stage. Larson won Stage Two holding off Tyler Reddick. With 33 laps to go, the caution came out for Corey Lajoie.   Reddick closed the gap late, but eventually fell short as Kyle Larson dominated and won the Pennzoil 400.
