- Racing Refresh Team Previews - Hill Motorsports
By Adam Carabine Hill Motorsports One full-time entry in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Truck No. 56 Timmy Hill Timmy Hill at Iowa Speedway - Photo by Kyle Rivas/Getty Images 2024 Stats Timmy Hill was in this ride for the entirety of 2024. He is expected to return to the ride in 2025, though it hasn’t been officially announced yet. Final Standings Position – 21st Best 2024 Finish – P8 at Daytona Points – 349 Average Finish – 21.14 Career Truck Series Stats Starts – 111 Wins – 0 Best Career Season Finish Position – 20th in 2022 with Hill Motorsports 2025 Hopes and Expectations Timmy Hill and his team, Hill Motorsports put together a solid season in 2024, and would like to continue that into 2025. While it’s not likely they’ll challenge for a playoff spot (especially with the Truck Series playoff field only being 10 drivers), a solid season probably looks like a Top 20 team. At Talladega in 2024, Timmy Hill was the only driver not to qualify for the race. Another goal for Hill Motorsports would be to qualify for each race in 2025.
- Racing Refresh Team Previews - SS-Green Light Racing

Garrett Smithley spent his 2024 season driving for three different teams: JD Motorsports, Alpha Prime Racing, and Joey Gase Motorsports. Garrett Smithley’s 2024: Final Standings Position – 31st Best 2024 Finish – 16th at Daytona Points – 191 Average Finish – 28.39 Career Xfinity Series Stats Starts – 180 Wins – 0 Best Career Season Finish Position – 18th in 2016 with JD Motorsports 2025 Hopes and Expectations This is another example of a team that’s used to having multiple drivers in and out of the seat finally trying out some stability. Garrett Smithley has been announced to run the entire season in the No. 14 car, and hopefully that can allow the team some time to work through their challenges together and grow. Smithley has shown he has the skills to be a regular Top-20 driver – hopefully the funding is there to help them achieve that in 2025.
- Racing Refresh Team Previews - AM Racing
By Adam Carabine AM Racing One entry in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Car No. 15 Harrison Burton leaves the Cup Series and will drive in 2025 Harrison Burton after winning the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona in 2024 - Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty Images 2024 Stats Hailie Deegan was the principal driver in 2024 until she and AM Racing parted ways after 17 races. The ride was populated with multiple drivers to close out the season. Harrison Burton’s 2024 Cup Series Stats: Final Standings Position – 16th Best 2024 Finish – One win, Daytona Points – 2,122 Average Finish – 25.72 Harrison Burton Career Xfinity Stats Starts – 75 Wins – 4 Best Career Season Finish Position – 8th in both 2020 and 2021 with Joe Gibbs Racing. 2025 Hopes and Expectations Harrison Burton’s return to full-time Xfinity racing can’t help but feel like a demotion. After three full-time Cup Series seasons, Burton no longer had a ride (a decision that was made before his win at the summer Daytona race). AM Racing is trying to find some stability, and Burton now brings some good experience with him. It might be tough for the 15 car to challenge for a playoff spot, but they’ll certainly hope that Burton can help them take a big step forward.
- Racing Refresh Team Previews - Reaume Brothers Racing
By Adam Carabine Reaume Brothers Racing Two full-time and one part-time entry in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Truck No. 22 Multiple Drivers 2024 Stats Nine different drivers took the wheel of the 22 truck in 2024 Final Standings Position – 32nd Best 2024 Finish – 12th at Daytona (Jason White) Points – 214 Average Finish – 27.70 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Truck No. 33 Frankie Muniz Frankie Muniz - Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images 2024 Stats Lawless Alan ran full-time in the No. 33 Truck for Reaume in 2024. Frankie Muniz takes over the ride in 2025 after running four races for Reaume Brothers Racing in 2024. Final Standings Position – 54th Best 2024 Finish – 29th at Kansas Points – 21 Average Finish – 31.75 Career Truck Series Stats Starts – 4 Wins – 0 Best Career Season Finish Position – 54th in 2024 2025 Hopes and Expectations Reaume Brothers Racing are hoping that Frankie Muniz can pick up where Lawless Alan left off, and improve. Before Alan joined the 33 Truck, the ride was riddled with DNQs, withdrawals, and a revolving door of drivers. Lawless Alan showed that with some stability, they can occasionally be competitive. Muniz is relatively inexperienced in the Craftsman Truck Series, so this will likely be a year of growth for both him and the team. If he can manage an average of 25 or so, with the occasional Top 15 sprinkled in, they should be happy.
- Racing Refresh Team Previews - Wood Brothers Racing
By Adam Carabine Wood Brothers Racing One entry in the NASCAR Cup Series Car No. 21 Josh Berry Josh Berry with his 2024 ride, the Stewart-Haas Racing No. 4 - Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images 2024 Stats Josh Berry drove the No. 4 car for the now-defunct Stewart-Haas Racing Final Standings Position – 27th Best 2024 Finish – 3rd, at both Spring Darlington and New Hampshire Points – 579 Average Finish – 22.72 Career Cup Series Stats Starts – 48 Wins – 0 Best Career Season Finish Position – 27th with Stewart-Haas Racing in 2024 2025 Hopes and Expectations Josh Berry was set to take over for the retiring Kevin Harvick, and to continue the legacy of the No. 4 with them for years to come. However, midway through the season, SHR announced they were shutting down, and the rest is history. Berry moves to Harrison Burton’s old seat in the Wood Bros. No. 21, where they hope he’ll be able to take some positive steps forward. Despite being seen as the development ride for Team Penske, the 21 won’t likely have outstanding equipment week in and week out, but Josh Berry’s short track acumen should have him challenging for another win-and-you’re-in playoff spot, much like Harrison Burton accomplished last season.
- Racing Refresh Team Previews - Freedom Racing Enterprises
By Adam Carabine Freedom Racing Enterprises One entry in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Truck No. 76 Spencer Boyd Spencer Boyd in Homestead - Photo from www.x.com/freedomracing76 2024 Stats Spencer Boyd ran full-time in this ride in 2024. For a smaller and brand new team, expectations were small. 2025 should bring some improvement as the team finds its footing. Boyd has showed consistency in the past, and FRE should look to compete for Top 20s next season.
- Racing Refresh Team Previews - Joey Gase Motorsports
By Adam Carabine Joey Gase Motorsports with Scott Osteen Two full-time entries in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Car No. 35 Greg Van Alst Greg Van Alst with Joey Gase - Photo from www.x.com/J_G_Motorsports 2024 Stats Greg Van Alst ran in 5 Xfinity races in 2024 for SS-Green Light Racing. If GVA can string together some solid Top 30s, Joey Gase and Scott Osteen should be very pleased, and it may give them some positive momentum. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Car No. 53 Joey Gase Racing is expected to run the 53 car full time in the Xfinity Series as well, but any driver news is still TBA, and will likely include a swath of different drivers.

(Photo Courtesy NASCAR) We’re excited for NASCAR’s return to its roots with the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium this year, a historic short track that will serve as the venue for the preseason event. Due to limited space at Bowman Gray, pre-race inspections will take place at Charlotte Motor Speedway, about an hour away. Once the inspections are completed, the cars will be transported to Bowman Gray for the race. While Bowman Gray is a relic of a different time, it’s still a beloved track, and we’re looking forward to seeing the action unfold. - NHRA Provides Updates for Building Plans at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park
Press Release | NHRA INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 23, 2024) – Progress continues to be made on the building plans at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, including an update on the new Wally Parks Tower and the renovated suites. As part of the first phase in a multi-year project, construction on the new Wally Parks Tower, an impressive three-story facility, is full speed ahead. Steel for the new tower, which will feature race control, media center, television broadcasting capabilities and three suites on the third floor, has been erected, the base work is completed and concrete pours for each floor is currently in progress. Enclosures of the structure will take place in the coming weeks, while the canopy on the observation deck on the top floor will begin to take shape over the next month. That will be the final structural piece placed at the top of the tower. The open-air covered roof will include an overview area and an event space that can host up to 500 people. The state-of-the-art tower will also have dedicated bathrooms, staircase and an elevator and will sit in the same area as the previous tower. The facility remains on track to have the new Wally Parks Tower and renovated suites completed by mid-summer, in time for the world’s biggest drag race, the 71st annual Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals on Aug. 27-Sept. 1. “Every day we continue to make big leaps, so it’s a very exciting time,” NHRA Vice President of Track Management and Operations Kasey Coler said. “Garmong Construction has done a great job keeping us on track and working with sub-contractors to ensure there are no issues with staff and supplies. The quality has been superb, and we’re thrilled to see the progress on such a major project that will provide improvements for our race teams, fans, partners, media and race officials.” A major overhaul on the current eight suites above the west side grandstands is well underway as well. Each suite will receive a full remodel and new elevators for the suites will also be installed. Another project set to begin in 2025 is the major drainage and ditch alignment of the facility. Engineering plans have started for that project, which is a key part of the multi-phase plan that will create a new entrance on the west side of the track and, long-term, bringing the professional pits, the manufacturers midway and the fan experiences to the west side of the track. Fan parking will also shift to that side of the track in the future. Plans for a community open house before the Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals are in place and will be revealed in the coming months. “We’re hitting these great milestones heading into 2025 and we’re really excited to present the new Wally Parks Tower and our renovated suites next summer,” Coler said. “The Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals is the crown jewel on our schedule and this progress is a huge step for the future of this incredible facility.” For more information on NHRA, including the 2025 schedule, please visit www.NHRA.com.
