- Jeremy Bullins Named Crew Chief for Brad Keselowski
Press Release | RFK RACING RFK Racing has announced that Jeremy Bullins, veteran crew chief in NASCAR, has joined the organization, reuniting with driver/co-owner Brad Keselowski to lead the No. 6 team beginning in 2025. “I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with BK again, this time in the iconic No. 6 car with RFK,” said Bullins. “We were able to accomplish a lot as a team previously, but we had a couple of unfinished goals like a Daytona 500 win and a championship together and I’m ecstatic we get the opportunity to compete together again. From the outside looking in it’s been obvious the trajectory RFK is on, and I look forward to being part of the growth and future success of the team.” Bullins – a winner of 31 races in the sport – joins RFK after a decade-plus stint in the Cup Series with Wood Brothers Racing and Team Penske, working with drivers Ryan Blaney, Keselowski, Austin Cindric, and Harrison Burton. He most recently led the No. 21 team, earning the organization’s famed 100th victory at Daytona this summer. Prior, he was paired with Austin Cindric and the No. 2 team, which came on the heels of Keselowski’s departure of Team Penske at the end of the 2021 campaign. Together, Bullins and Keselowski finished second in the 2020 points standings, and won five races in the Cup Series in the 2020-21 seasons. Bullins’ debut in Cup came in 2014 with 2023 Cup Champion Ryan Blaney, as the two were successful from 2014-19, winning three races with the No. 12 team. Prior to Cup, the Walnut Cove, North Carolina native was atop the box for several drivers at Penske. In total, he amassed 21 victories in the Xfinity Series in just 100 starts. Bullins attended North Carolina State University studying Mechanical Engineering. Keselowski enters his 16th full season in Cup in 2025, and fourth as Co-Owner/Driver at RFK. He’s fresh off his 10th appearance in the current NASCAR Playoffs format and will enter the 2025 campaign third amongst active drivers in total wins (36). (Photo Courtesy NASCAR)
- Chevrolet Sweeps Manufacturer Championships in NASCAR National Ranks
Press Release | CHEVROLET For the second consecutive year, and the sixth time overall, Chevrolet swept the manufacturer championship titles across the NASCAR national ranks – earning its 43rd NASCAR Cup Series Manufacturer Championship; its 26th Bill France Performance Cup in the NASCAR Xfinity Series; and its 12th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Manufacturer Championship. This marks the first time in NASCAR history that a manufacturer has swept the manufacturer championship titles across all three NASCAR national series in consecutive seasons. “Winning the manufacturer championship titles in all three NASCAR national series for the second straight year is a remarkable achievement, and we are so proud of all the Chevy teams,” said Scott Bell, Vice President of Chevrolet. “This wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication we’ve seen all season long from Chevrolet engineers, drivers, crew chiefs and teams. We all work together to put the best race cars and trucks on the track every week, and the championships are a true testament to the strength of that collaborative effort across each series.” In the NASCAR Cup Series, Chevrolet won its first manufacturer championship in 1958, later logging a record-setting streak of 13 consecutive titles between 2003 – 2015. This marks the fourth consecutive season that Chevrolet has won the prestigious title in NASCAR’s top division, keeping the manufacturer undefeated in the Next Gen era. Completing its third season of competition, the Next Gen Camaro ZL1 made 15 trips to victory lane in 36 points-paying races, recorded with eight drivers from four different Chevrolet organizations: Kyle Larson (six wins; series-best); William Byron (three wins); and Daniel Suarez, Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman, Austin Dillon, Ross Chastain and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (one win each). Kyle Busch, Zane Smith and Shane van Gisbergen also contributed to the points total that led to the championship title. Chevrolet brought home the Bill France Performance Cup in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for the eighth consecutive season. In 33 races, 10 different drivers recorded a combined 18 wins in the Camaro SS. Among those winners includes Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Hill (four wins; series-best) and Kaulig Racing’s AJ Allmendinger (one win), who each earned a victory in the Round of Eight to secure an early bid into the Championship Four. Also collecting victories were three first-time winners with Shane van Gisbergen (three wins), Jesse Love and Connor Zilisch (one win each), as well as JR Motorsports teammates Sam Mayer (three wins), Justin Allgaier (two wins) and Sammy Smith (one win). Former NASCAR Cup Series champions, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott, also drove Hendrick Motorsports’ part-time entry to a pair of victories. In addition, Carson Kvapil and Parker Kligerman tallied results that earned points towards the championship title. The 2024 season delivered Chevrolet its second consecutive NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Manufacturer Championship. The year opened in dominating fashion for the Bowtie brand, with four different drivers earning victories in the series’ first four races, including two first-time winners with Nick Sanchez and Rajah Caruth. Chevrolet paced the series in wins throughout the entirety of the season, with the manufacturer ending the season with 12 wins in 23 races, recorded by Christian Eckes (four wins); Grant Enfinger, Nick Sanchez and Kyle Busch (two wins each); and Rajah Caruth and Ross Chastain (one win each). - 23XI Racing Expanding to Three Teams with Riley Herbst
Press Release | 23XI RACING 23XI Racing announced today the addition of a third NASCAR Cup Series car and its newest team member, Riley Herbst. Herbst, who recently concluded the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season driving the No. 98 Monster Energy car, will pilot the No. 35 Monster Energy Toyota Camry XSE when the 2025 Cup Series season begins. Building on the success of its existing two-car lineup, the expansion marks a significant milestone for 23XI Racing, which continues to grow its impact in the sport since debuting in 2021. Herbst, who has eight career Cup Series starts, will embark on his rookie campaign in NASCAR’s top series in 2025 alongside veteran teammates Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick. The move to full-time Cup Series racing comes after several years of competing in the Xfinity Series. Since 2018, Herbst has 175 starts in the Xfinity Series, three career wins, and playoff appearances in four of his five full-time seasons. His first career win came in the fall race last season at his home track, Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Herbst also won earlier this year at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway and capped off the year with a win at the season finale in Phoenix. The move marks a reunion between Toyota and Herbst, who started his Xfinity career at Joe Gibbs Racing. “It’s an honor to join 23XI and Toyota for the opportunity to race in the Cup Series each week,” said Herbst. “Racing full-time in the Cup Series has been my goal since I started in NASCAR and I’m excited to start my Cup career with such an accomplished and driven team. What 23XI has accomplished in a short time is impressive and I look forward to building on their success as the organization grows. It’s also great to continue representing Monster and I’m excited about adding to their legacy in NASCAR.” “As 23XI enters our fifth season next year, we felt the time was right to continue the growth of our organization by adding a third team, and Riley is a driver we think will be a great fit for us,” said Steve Lauletta, 23XI Team President. “We have a very solid foundation with both Bubba and Tyler, and we know they will be a great resource for Riley as he begins his journey in the Cup Series.” “Riley Herbst has built his career with Monster Energy and he is part of the Family,” said Mitch Covington, Monster Energy’s SVP of Sports Marketing. “From his ascent to championship-caliber driver in the Xfinity Series to his next step into the premier NASCAR Cup Series, Monster and Riley have been in it together – and we are just thrilled to power into this phase of his incredible career with him.” Monster Energy, a longtime partner with Herbst, will be the primary sponsor on the No. 35 Toyota Camry. With a long history in NASCAR, dating back to their first race in 2004, Monster is no stranger to racing fans and embodies much of the passion that drivers and fans bring to the sport. Herbst has represented the brand in various series for almost ten years and will add to Monster’s current representation at 23XI. The No. 35 team will be led by Davin Restivo, Herbst’s crew chief from the No. 98 team. Restivo assumed crew chief duties with Herbst at the midpoint of last season and has guided the team to three wins and a berth in the 2024 Xfinity playoffs. After starting with NTS Motorsports in the Truck Series in 2013, Restivo served as a race engineer for several teams, including Turner-Scott Motorsports and Chip Ganassi Racing, before joining Stewart-Haas Racing to work as a lead engineer with one of their Cup teams. Press Release | RICHARD CHILDRESS RACING Richard Childress Racing announced this week several key competition leadership appointments ahead of the 2025 NASCAR season. Keith Rodden has been promoted from interim competition director to vice president of competition for Richard Childress Racing, where he will play a larger role in competition administration functions for the 55-year-old race team. In his new role, Rodden will provide forward thinking and direction in all areas of performance and budgeting and lead strategic performance-based partnerships, including technology collaborations with Chevrolet, Dow and Lenovo. “I’m honored that Richard Childress, Torrey Galida, Mike Verlander and everyone at RCR have put their faith in me to take on a larger role on the competition side of operations as vice president,” said Keith Rodden, vice president of competition for RCR. “I’m excited for the future of this company and the promising new hires we have joining the great group we already have in Welcome. RCR has all of the resources in place to excel in 2025 and beyond, including a robust group of partners who we have already been meeting with to help contribute to our success.” John Klausmeier has joined RCR as technical director, overseeing all technical engineering activities for the high-performance motorsports team and focusing his energies on vehicle systems engineering, design and metrology. The Baltimore, Maryland, native will provide departmental oversight for RCR’s talented team of engineers and crew chiefs. Klausmeier comes to RCR with more than 20 years of motorsports experience, including experience in the technical director role at Stewart-Haas Racing and six years as a race-winning crew chief in both the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series. “I’m thrilled to join Richard Childress Racing as technical director,” said Klausmeier. “With such a rich history in the sport, I’m excited to contribute to their groundwork for success. I look forward to working with the team to pursue performance and refine processes, all with the goal of consistently contending for wins and championships. Growing up as a Dale Earnhardt and Richard Childress Racing fan, it’s special to join the organization I pulled for in my younger years.” In his new role, all competition departments will report to Klausmeier, while Klausmeier will report to Rodden. Richard Boswell has been named crew chief of the No. 3 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series and will be paired with driver Austin Dillon. Having grown up in a racing family, Boswell brings more than 15 years of professional motorsports experience as a crew chief, engineer and driver. He most recently completed his first full season as a Cup Series crew chief, having posted one win and qualified for the NASCAR Playoffs with Stweart-Haas Racing and Chase Briscoe. “I have tremendous respect for Richard Childress, Austin Dillon and all of the hardworking people at Richard Childress Racing and I am honored to have the opportunity to help contribute to the on-track success of the legendary No. 3 Chevrolet,” said Boswell. “My dad used to race with Dale Earnhardt so he was always a huge fan and the No. 3 was the car we all grew up cheering for in my household so this truly feels like a full-circle moment.” Randall Burnett will continue to work with Kyle Busch as crew chief of the No. 8 Chevrolet in the Cup Series. “Keith Rodden has stepped up in the interim competition director role this past season and has shown an eagerness to help improve and fine-tune all aspects of RCR,” said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “That enthusiasm and loyalty earned him the title of vice president of competition. I know he will do a great job serving our competition executives. John Klausmeier and Richard Boswell have both been great winners in the garage and I know their experience and skills will contribute to RCR’s overall success. I feel confident that all of our crew chiefs will do a great job leading their respective teams and we will give our partners, employees and fans plenty to be excited about in 2025. I’d like to acknowledge and thank Justin Alexander for his contribution to RCR. He and Austin Dillon won five Cup races together and we wish him the best.” (Photo Courtesy NASCAR)
- Circuit of the Americas to Change Course Layout for Cup and Xfinity Races
Press Release | CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS The fifth running of the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) season will arrive with a distinctive new look and feel for both drivers and fans alike at Circuit of The Americas (COTA). The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, the season’s third race set for Sunday, March 2 (2:30 p.m. CT, TV: FOX, Radio: PRN, SiriusXM), will shift from COTA’s 3.41-mile, 20-turn Full Course layout to the facility’s equally challenging 2.3-mile, 20-turn National Course. The NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS), which returns to COTA for a fifth season, will also utilize the National Course for the Focused Health 250 on Saturday, March 1 (1:30 p.m. CT, TV: CW, Radio: PRN, SiriusXM). The reconfiguration will eliminate approximately a mile of the backside of the permanent road course’s traditional layout and is expected to shave roughly a minute off lap times based off early NASCAR simulations. The National Course layout will begin upon exit of the esses section and then return to the traditional course at the tail end of the long backstretch Fans will benefit from the race distance being extended from 68 laps to approximately 100 and providing nearly 50 percent more action in front of them than the previous Full Course layout. Additional modifications may be made to the layout, and the lap total for both the Cup Series and Xfinity Series races will be confirmed as NASCAR finalizes the National Course details. “The move to the National Course will make a great race experience even better for our fans with more laps and more action,” Speedway Motorsports President and CEO Marcus Smith said. “Fans will have more laps to cheer for their favorite driver from the best seats, and the action will come faster with lap times reduced by roughly a minute. The National Course and its new pavement will provide the drivers, teams and crew chiefs with a fresh look and a new challenge after running the Full Course the last four years at COTA.” From a driver’s perspective, they will not only have a new layout to master but also contend with the full repave the track underwent after last season’s NASCAR race weekend. Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain, who won the 2022 EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, had the opportunity to run the existing National Course on iRacing and shared his thoughts of the simulation. “It’s going to be like basically going to a new track, a new town, new area,” said Chastain, who drives the No. 1 Chevrolet. “It flows together nice, and (Turn) 12 (of the Full Course) will really change since we don’t have that long backstretch. Once I get to (Turn) 13, though, it’s all going to be the same. I’ll get my normal speed I was at last year. Gosh, this place is awesome.” While Chastain has enjoyed plenty of success on COTA’s Full Course with three top-five finishes in four starts, he is looking forward to the challenge of mastering the new layout. “I love the challenge of the Cup Series,” Chastain said. “That’s why I’ve ascended to this level, because I kept pushing myself from pro-trucks to late models to the Truck Series, Xfinity and Cup. It’s scary as heck to think about trying to compete at this level, and how good these drivers are, how good these teams are, how many people’s livelihoods depend on this race shop. “… And this will be a race that we look forward to and put a lot of time into the simulator like we already talked about ahead of time. Look at the test data. See if one of us maybe could test and get some real, real track time and then go race.” The fifth annual EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix will move up from its traditional late March date to the third NCS race of the 2025 season on Sunday, March 2. The NASCAR at COTA event will follow the season-opening Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 16, and Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, Feb. 23. The weekend will also play host to the NXS on Saturday, March 1 with the Focused Health 250 and the IMSA-sanctioned VP Racing SportsCar Challenge on the same day. Fans can take advantage of the “Texas Two-Step” promotion between NASCAR at COTA and Texas Motor Speedway, which plays host to its NCS race on Sunday, May 4. Speedway Motorsports will offer ticket purchasers of either NCS race a 20 percent discount if they would like to attend both. - ICYMI: RFK Racing Leasing One of Rick Ware Racing’s Charters for 2025 Season
(Photo Courtesy NASCAR) Steve Newmark, the president of RFK Racing, confirmed that they will lease the No. 60 charter for Ryan Preece's third car from Rick Ware Racing (RWR) for at least the 2025 season. RWR has two charters, and one will go to RFK for the upcoming season, though the fate of the second charter, currently associated with the No. 51 car and Corey Lajoie, remains unclear. This development is notable because RFK and RWR have a strong partnership, and RFK has previously worked with leased charters. We’re interested to see how this arrangement will affect both teams moving forward. Let us know your thoughts on this deal and the future of Rick Ware Racing’s charters! Find Steve Newmark full quote below. “Just to be clear, our vision is that a third car is a permanent state and a permanent condition for RFK, but you still have to navigate the charter landscape, so what we have done at least in the short term is we’ve been fortunate that we have a partnership with Rick Ware Racing, a technical alliance where we’ve been working hand-in-hand with Rick Ware and Robby Benton over the last year to try and elevate the performance of both teams and as part of that going into next year we’ll be leasing one of the Rick Ware charters, still collaborating with that organization to try to again lift both organizations and make sure that we can continue to elevate our game. That is the charter we will have for next year and then, obviously, the future will see what that brings.”

(November 19, 2024) -- LEGACY MOTOR CLUB today named Travis Mack as a crew chief of the No. 42 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB entry with driver John Hunter Nemechek. Mack joins Ben Beshore in the crew chief department as the CLUB continues forging forward in its competition realignment. Mack, 41, has experienced success at all levels of motorsports. The Louisville, Ky., native began his career with Frank Kimmel's ARCA team Clement Racing, winning three championships before joining Hendrick Motorsports in 2004 as a shock specialist and front-end mechanic. From there, he worked his way up to a car chief role at Hendrick Motorsports for Dale Earnhardt, Jr., with the No. 88 team. He served as interim crew chief for Earnhardt, Jr., for one race. Mack worked with Kasey Kahne at Leavine Racing and then held crew chief roles at JR Motorsports, Trackhouse Racing and Kaulig Racing, where he most recently served as the team’s technical director and crew chief for road racing sensation Shane van Gisbergen. Mack’s record in the NASCAR Cup Series has shown success, as he has one win at NASCAR’s elite level with Daniel Suarez in 2022. Overall, Mack has called 156 races at the Cup level, earning one win, 11 top five and 31 top 10 finishes including two pole positions. “I’m looking forward to helping LEGACY MOTOR CLUB build something great,” said Mack. “There are a lot of talented people here at LEGACY M.C. I worked with Jimmie (Johnson) at Hendrick Motorsports, and I know his work ethic and determination – so his vision for the CLUB is really exciting, and I’m ready to get to work.” “Travis is a welcome addition to LEGACY MOTOR CLUB,” said Canter, SVP - Sporting Director for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB. “As we continue to make changes and evolve on the competition side, the goal is to place the right people in the right places. That will take some time, but we are thrilled to have a talent like Travis on board and can’t wait to see what he, Ben and the rest of the engineering team can accomplish over this short off-season.” Mack will assume the position of crew chief effective immediately.
