- B. Force, Prock, Anderson, and M. Smith Take No. 1 Spots at In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals
Press Release | NHRA POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2024) – Brittany Force made the quickest Top Fuel run of the 2024 season on Saturday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, qualifying No. 1 for the fourth time in the past five races at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals. Austin Prock (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also qualified No. 1 at the last of 20 races during the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season and the sixth race in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs. Force, who won the most recent race in Las Vegas, went an impressive 3.643-seconds at 336.65 mph in her 11,000-horsepower Monster Energy/Chevrolet dragster, collecting her sixth No. 1 of the season. After enduring her share of struggles this season, Force and her team have come on strong to close out the season as she looks to end the year with a second straight win. She’s 108 points out of first, giving her an outside shot at a championship as well, but Force is thrilled with how her team has persevered to get back on track. Steve Torrence went 3.644 just moments earlier on Saturday, but Force and her team laid down an incredible run to close out qualifying. “We ran a 3.64 and that’s huge. I’m very proud of [crew chief] David Grubnic and John Collins, and the whole Monster Energy team. I wanted as many bonus points as we could get,” Force said. “[The number of cars in the 3.6s] says the competition is fierce. It’s killer out there. I didn’t know how quick I ran but when I pulled off the track there were cameras in my face so I thought it might be better than it felt. “I’m not disappointed [in being a championship longshot]. Everything happens for a reason and it all helps pull our team together. We win as a team and we lose as a team.” Torrence’s 3.644 at 334.90 puts him second, while defending world champion Doug Kalitta is third after a 3.650 at 334.98. Shawn Langdon took fourth with a 3.653 at 331.45, jumping into second in points. He’s currently 43 behind points leader Justin Ashley, who is looking for his first world championship. Ashley will open eliminations in an epic first-round matchup against Antron Brown, who is only 46 points behind the young standout. Kalitta and Torrence are 78 and 79 points behind, respectively, while Clay Millican also remains in contention at 95 points out of first heading into the opening round of eliminations. In Funny Car, Austin Prock closed out qualifying with an incredible track-record run of 3.804 at 334.57 in his 11,000-horsepower AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS. Prock clinched his first career world championship in qualifying, making the quickest Funny Car run in seven years and the fourth-quickest in Funny Car history. It is his 15th No. 1 qualifier in 2024, the most in Funny Car history. Pro Stock’s Greg Anderson stayed alive in the championship chase, making two strong runs of 6.50 on Saturday, including a category-best 6.505 at 211.20 in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro. It is the eighth No. 1 qualifier of the season for the five-time world champion, who also remained in contention for the world title. He’s currently 48 points behind leader Aaron Stanfield, with a potential semifinal matchup looming between the contenders. He could also meet KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn in the championship round in what would be a winner-take-all final round. It’s a scenario that has the veteran and the all-time wins leader in the category excited for Sunday, as an epic championship finale could be in store at Pomona. “Qualifying means everything. To be able to control our own destiny on Sunday is all you can ask for,” Anderson said. “The way the ladder is set up is a prayer answered. I can’t remember a time when we had three cars within two rounds of the championship going into Sunday. “Win the race and win the championship. If I can pull that off, it might be the biggest thing I’ve done in this sport. We’ve got it all set up. I just hope I wake up on the right side of the bed. For the last dozen races I’ve had the strongest horse out here but I just haven’t closed the deal. Tomorrow, I hope the sun shines on me and if it doesn’t, I hope it shines on my teammate, Dallas Glenn.” Glenn is 29 points behind Stanfield, qualifying second with a run of 6.512 at 209.82, pulling to within a round of Stanfield heading into eliminations. He could potentially meet Stanfield in a winner-take-all final round as well, while Stanfield qualified fourth with a 6.517 at 209.98. Matt Smith kept Gaige Herrera from his second straight championship on Saturday, securing enough qualifying bonus – as well as the No. 1 spot – to extend the championship race into Sunday. He qualified in the top spot for the sixth time this year, going 6.721 at 202.64 on his Denso Auto Parts/Matt Smith Racing Buell. With that, he closed the gap to 119 points against Herrera, though Smith will need plenty of help to secure a seventh world championship on Sunday. If Herrera knocks off Clayton Howey in the opening round of eliminations, Herrera will claim his second straight world title. Smith’s only path to a championship is if Herrera loses in the first round and Smith wins the race. If that doesn’t happen, Smith would at least like to end the year with a victory. “We came here to try and get the win and we’re in a spot to do that,” Smith said. “We’re still alive [for the championship] but we made too many mistakes during the Countdown to battle Gaige [Herrera] for the championship. “Funny, but I’m going to finish No. 2 in the championship and I’ve never been No. 2 in my career. I’ve either won the championship or been third or fourth or lower. It would be huge for us to win the race tomorrow or for Angie [Smith], John Hall or Jianna [Evaristo] to win it. I’d love to see one of them win it. It would be a great way to end the season.” A. Smith qualified second with a 6.758 at 201.43 and Herrera is third after going 6.765 at 201.22. Eliminations for the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals begin at 11 a.m. PT on Sunday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. (Photo Courtesy NHRA)
- Funny Car's Austin Prock Clinches First World Championship at In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals
Press Release | NHRA POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2024) – Funny Car’s Austin Prock clinched his first career world championship on Saturday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, securing the world title for John Force Racing during qualifying at the 59th annual In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals. Prock finished as the No. 1 qualifier with a track-record run of 3.804-seconds at 334.57 mph to close out the day in his 11,000-horsepower AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS, making the quickest run in Funny Car since 2017 and the fourth-quickest in class history. It’s another magical moment in what has been an incredible and dominant first year in Funny Car for the young standout. He has put together one of the most impressive Funny Car seasons in history, winning eight races thus far and clinching his 15th No. 1 qualifier, the most in a single season in Funny Car history. Prock has been just as terrific in the Countdown to the Championship, culminating in his first world title and a magical moment in his young career. “I've been working towards this for 19 years,” Prock said. “I started driving race cars when I was 10 years old and all I could think of was being a professional race car driver in any manner and winning the world championship, and we got it done this year. The main job is finished, finally, but we want nine wins before we end this 2024 season, and we definitely have the hot rod to do it right now. “This thing's been on kill this weekend, and in the last few years, this race car hasn't performed all that well here in Pomona, but all the stars are aligning right now. We made three really, really quick runs and I'm doing a good job keeping it in the middle of the groove here." Prock, who had previously raced in Top Fuel, winning four times and being named Rookie of the Year in 2019, got the opportunity to join his father, multi-time championship crew chief Jimmy Prock, and his brother, Thomas, on the John Force Racing Cornwell Tools Funny Car team after its normal driver, thee-time world champ Robert Hight, was sidelined for medical reasons before the season started. A. Prock made his presence known almost immediately, scoring a runner-up in Gainesville and collecting his first Funny Car victory in Phoenix. He held the points lead for the bulk of the season, taking the lead for good after finishing as runner-up to Force in Epping. Prock was the near-perfect driver to match a fast hot rod, ranking second in class average for reaction times while completing nearly 80 percent of all runs under power. Prock enjoyed success in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge and ran well in almost any weather conditions, picking up victories in Bristol, Richmond and Seattle in the regular season. He also won the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals for the first time in his career this year, rolling to playoff wins in Reading and Charlotte following that. He enjoyed 14 straight round wins at that point in the season, taking a commanding lead down the stretch of the Countdown to the Championship playoffs. Prock followed with a victory in Las Vegas – part of a JFR double-up with Brittany Force – and finished the job in qualifying in Pomona. Now, Prock has a chance to cement his year as arguably the best in recent history. Only five drivers in NHRA history have won eight or more events before this season and Prock still has the opportunity to win a ninth national event, a feat that hasn’t been done since Force did it in 2000 with 11. "I was nervous coming into this weekend, but everything's just working right, just like it has all year,” Prock said. “We're looking forward to tomorrow. We're going to do a little bit of celebrating tonight, but we'll all be ready to go in the morning and try and go for that ninth Wally.” Eliminations for the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals begin at 11 a.m. PT on Sunday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. - DHL, Kalitta Air, Kalitta Motorsports Join Forces, Provide Two Million Meals in "Race To End Hunger"
Press Release | KALITTA MOTORSPORTS, KALITTA AIR, DHL EXPRESS YPSILANTI, Mich. - - Earlier today, DHL Express and the 2024 “Race to End Hunger” partners donated two million meals to Feeding America and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, bringing the program’s overall five-year total to 11 million meals. With some 49 million people in the United States currently experiencing food insecurity, DHL Express, Kalitta Air and Kalitta Motorsports united their efforts in the “Race to End Hunger.” The initiative provides critical hunger relief for families in need, both during the upcoming holiday season and beyond. For the past five years, DHL and its dedicated U.S. employees have been actively collaborating with local food pantries and the Feeding America® network of local food banks, as part of their annual volunteering and charitable-giving campaign. This ongoing program supports families in need while aligning with DHL’s mission of “Connecting People. Improving Lives.” This year, DHL expanded its internal campaign, giving employees the option to also donate through its DHL online retail store purchases, with proceeds benefiting Feeding America. Combined with DHL’s corporate match of employee donations and its contribution to the “Race to End Hunger” partner program with Kalitta, the company’s total contribution reached 1.25 million meals. The other 750,000 meals were generated by DHL’s National Hot Rod Association relationships. Two years ago, DHL supercharged its efforts by partnering with Kalitta Motorsports and Kalitta Air to fight food insecurity nationwide, through the “Race to End Hunger.” This year, additional Kalitta partners joined the program, which generated even more meals. Over three years of the campaign, 2.75 million meals were donated to Feeding America and its network of food banks. During the most-recent six NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events, DHL, Kalitta Air, and Kalitta Motorsports, along with five new “double down” partners – Applied Innovation, Dayco, Future Energy Solutions, Revchem Composites and Toyota – made a substantial impact. For every “win light” achieved by Kalitta Motorsports drivers Doug Kalitta, J.R. Todd, and Shawn Langdon, which signified winning a round of racing, Kalitta Motorsports donated $1,000, matched by DHL, Kalitta Air and the group of new partners. As a result, each round win generated $4,000 or 40,000 meals. The “Race to End Hunger” participating companies donated above and beyond the funds generated on the race track allowing for the million-meal donation, and NHRA fan donations are also included in this total. This effort will help provide the equivalent of one million meals through the Feeding America network of partner food banks, including the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, located near In ‘N Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip in Pomona, Calif., where this weekend’s In ‘N Out Burger NHRA Finals take place. “No one should have to worry about where their next meal will come from, and we are committed to doing our part to help,” said Nemer Abohasen, VP and General Manager at DHL Express and Head of U.S. Social Responsibility. “It has been deeply rewarding to collaborate with our long-time partners, Kalitta Air and Kalitta Motorsports, as well as our new partners this year, all of whom share our dedication to addressing the critical issue of food insecurity that affects millions across our country. Our “Race To End Hunger” partners are all strong advocates of our mission, and the impact in the communities we live in continues to be significant.” Hunger affects people of all ages; everyone needs nutritious food to thrive, and in every community in America, people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families. Yet in 2023, one in seven people experienced food insecurity in the United States. “We are grateful for the commitment of DHL, and all its partner companies, to our work and delighted that this partnership will help us reach even more of our neighbors facing food insecurity,” Chief Development Officer of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Roger Castle said. “Their ‘Race to End Hunger’ program with Kalitta, this year’s new partner companies and the NHRA is an excellent example of corporate social responsibility for us locally and our partners nationally.” “On behalf of everyone at Kalitta Motorsports, we were honored to participate in the “Race to End Hunger,” again this year,” Team Kalitta Top Fuel driver Doug Kalitta said. “It’s hard to believe that food insecurity is such a big problem in our country, but it’s wonderful that companies like DHL, Kalitta Air, Applied Innovation, Dayco, Future Energy Solutions, Revchem and Toyota, reliable Kalitta Motorsports partners, are also supporting organizations like Feeding America and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in their fight against hunger. Hopefully one day soon, we can end hunger in the United States.” “Kalitta Air was proud to be a part of this great program again this year, but seeing the end result with two million meals being provided is truly special,” Kalitta Air Deputy Chief Operating Officer Heath Nicholl said. “We appreciate DHL’s leadership in this effort and thank them for helping fight hunger in our country. Unfortunately, much more work remains, but two million meals can make a difference.” For more information about Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, please visit www.feedingamerica.org and for more information about the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, please visit www.lafoodbank.org. While attending Indiana State University, Johnston’s focus shifted from racing cars to engineering them. His senior year in college, Johnston had the opportunity to work at Smith Aerospace as a manufacturing engineer, contributing to the development of Lockheed Martin’s F-22 Raptor, the world’s premier fifth-generation fighter jet. - Justin Ashley on Possibility of First Championship; "It Would Mean Everything To Me"
(Photo Courtesy NHRA) By Logan Morris This weekend, NHRA hosts its final event of 2024 with the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in Pomona, California. In Top Fuel, Justin Ashley will be seeking his first championship. This week, I had the chance to ask him what his first championship would mean to him and how he plans to keep his emotions in check. “It would mean the world to me. Racing for a world championship is what it’s all about. It’s why we do what we do, for this very moment. Winning a championship would mean everything to me. It would mean everything to our team. The best way to keep emotions in check is to keep everything linear.” He explained, "Some stuff is in your control, other stuff is not. We just want to treat it the same. Just doing the very best you can each and every time down the racetrack. For myself, I’ve kind of just focused on the process, detaching myself from the outcome. I focus on the process of ‘this is the way I do a burnout, this is the way I back up, this is the way I want to stage.’ You can’t always control the outcome. It’s about staying focused internally on the process and making the moment bigger than what it is, but just soaking it all in and having fun and enjoying being apart of it.“ Ashley leads the Top Fuel Standings but faces stiff competition from Antron Brown, Shawn Langdon, and others this weekend. Catch all the action on NHRA.TV or Fox Sports starting with round one of qualifying for the Nitro cars Friday at 1:30pm PST.
- Greg Anderson Reveling in the Pressure This Weekend at Pomona; "I Need It"
(Photo Courtesy NHRA) By Logan Morris As Greg Anderson looks for his sixth Pro Stock Championship, he knows the pressure he’s facing, and at this stage of his career, he’s enjoying it. I had the chance to ask the all-time winningest Pro Stock driver about the pressure he’s dealing with this weekend and his mindset on dealing with the pressure. “I revel in it. I need it. These days, I need a little extra motivation to jumpstart my heart. Those days of having butterflies before the first round seem to have disappeared. It seems like I have to artificially manufacture those feelings. So this should do that for me. This should get me focused. In my later years, I seem to respond to the taller challenges. I’ve done this before and I certainly know how to do it." Anderson is frustrated by his lack of wins lately but hasn’t let it affect his mindset. “It’s a slug in the guts every Sunday. I feel like these last several races I should have won and I haven’t. So it weighs on you. I seem to be able to, after a day or two, flush it down the toilet and show up to the next race as confident as ever and I’ll do the same thing this weekend. I love racing at Pomona. It’s going to be a feel-good weekend, I’m looking forward to it." Greg Anderson faces stiff competition from Dallas Glenn and Aaron Stanfield. The In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals kickoff Friday., with qualifying round one for Pro Stock starting at 12:30pm PST. You can catch all the action on FS1 or NHRA.TV.
- Justin Ashley and Scag Toyota in Pursuit of First World Championship at NHRA Finals
Press Release | NHRA POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2024) – Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team enter this weekend’s In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, the final race of the 2024 Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series season, sitting in the Top Fuel points lead. While Ashley has been in the championship discussion for the last two consecutive seasons, finishing fourth both years, he’s never entered the final race of the season leading the Top Fuel class. “It’s exciting, coming in with the points lead. We’re grateful and we’re excited for the opportunity,” Ashley said. “This SCAG Toyota team is definitely focused on having a near perfect weekend. We’re going to try to stack those round wins on Sunday and hopefully we come away with this championship.” Ashley earned the points lead when he picked up his fourth win of the season, a career best for the second-generation racer, at the Texas NHRA FallNationals. Following a quarterfinal finish at the most recent NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas, Ashley was able to maintain a 44-point lead. With points and a half up for grabs at the Finals, Ashley will have to fend off seven other Top Fuel pilots who are mathematically still in the title hunt. “As a team we are focused on the present. Taking it one day at a time. That’s been our approach all year long,” Ashley said. “When it comes to the Finals, obviously there’s a lot more on the line but it really is just another race. We have to go out there with the same mindset and same approach that we’ve had all year long: We deserve to be in this position, we’ve competed at a high level all season long. “We’re focusing on taking it one day and one lap at a time. Focusing on the process and making sure we are enjoying it because really, it is meaningful to be in this position. We don’t want to get sideways caught up in all the different scenarios. At the end of the day, we just want to control what we can,” Ashley continued. “I can’t’ control what the person in the other lane is going to do so for me, I’m just staying focused internally on the process, the burnout, staging, staying in the groove, being fast and being quick every lap. We want to soak it all in, have fun and enjoy being part of this chase.” Ashley and the SCAG dragster come into the Pomona Dragstrip having already had success at the venue in 2024. While the Winternationals, contested in March, were postponed due to inclement weather and finished in Phoenix, Ashley, who was the No. 1 qualifier, reached the final round for the fourth consecutive year and won the event for the third consecutive time. At last year’s Finals, Ashley had a semifinal finish to eventual race winner and reigning world champion Doug Kalitta. “We have to make sure our foot is all the way to the floor through the end of the year, all the way through the Pomona weekend,” Ashley said. “The margin for error in the regular season is so small but it gets even tighter during the Countdown and even now at the last race of the season, it can come down to the final round on Sunday. We just want to get the job done for SCAG, Metalcraft of Mayville, Phillips, Toyota, KATO, Impact and all our partners. Everyone has worked so hard and we are so grateful.” The In-N-Out NHRA Finals will begin with four rounds of qualifying Friday at 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at 12:30 and 3:00 p.m. Eliminations are slated for 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Television coverage will be on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) on Sunday with a qualifying show at 10 a.m. ET and eliminations at 4:00 p.m. ET. (Photo Courtesy NHRA)
- Chris Bostick is Ready to Close NHRA Season on a High Note in Pomona
Press Release | CHRIS BOSTICK MOTORSPORTS POMONA, Calif. (November 13, 2024) - No matter what happens at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals this weekend, Pro Stock Motorcycle pilot Chris Bostick will finish the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season in the Top Ten for the first time in his career. Knowing that his position as one of the best performers in the sport is locked in, he’s ready for a fun-filled time at historic In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. The fan-favorite rider also reached a new career-best elapsed time earlier this year in Sonoma when he powered The Surf Signature RV Resort Suzuki to a 6.777-second run. Bostick is quick to note that his recent achievements were only possible with the support of his team. Chris Parker and Rick Elmore have been instrumental in Bostick’s operation, along with Bostick’s better half, Teri, who has been by his side at each event. This year, Bostick teamed up with crew chief Tim Kulungian at White Alligator Racing, providing him with additional resources in the form of Keith Nichols and Bruce Van Sant, who are always ready to lend a hand in any direction needed. He’s eager to close out the season on a positive note with the support of his team and his sponsor, The Surf Signature RV Resort. “Any year you get to spend drag racing, is a pretty great year,” said Bostick. “Finishing in the Top Ten is nothing to sneeze at, especially when there are so many talented drivers and tuners in the category. Pro Stock Motorcycle is really exciting right now and I’ve been honored to be a part of it. I don’t think there are words to adequately express how much I appreciate everyone who’s been on this journey with me this season. We’ve gained new fans and a lot of useful knowledge. Everyone out here is so resourceful and it’s inspiring to be surrounded by people who are at the top of their game. I hope we can expand our sponsor relationships so we can continue growing and innovating.” Bostick became the first driver in Pro Stock Motorcycle to utilize a parachute in the shutdown area. It’s a move that fans have enjoyed seeing and his fellow drivers have been watching him closely to learn how the parachute works on these machines. Bostick and Kulungian have been gathering data on this implementation to share with NHRA. Competition in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series will feature two qualifying rounds at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 15. On Saturday, November 16, drivers will have two more opportunities to qualify at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Eliminations for the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals will kick off at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 17. Press Release | SCRAPPERS RACING POMONA, Calif. (November 14, 2024) - The Scrappers Racing team is taking another step toward their goal of creating a robust drag racing operation as they prepare for the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. Not only will Jianna Evaristo be racing Valley Services Scrappers Racing Pro Stock Motorcycle to secure her standing in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship, but her sister, Top Fuel newcomer Jasmine Salinas, will be joined by another driver making his Top Fuel debut, Gary Pritchett. It was announced exclusively on NHRA.com last week that Pritchett will be behind the wheel of the “Bunny and the Boys” Top Fuel dragster, owned by Travis Shumake and powered by Scrappers Racing. At the most recent NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series event in Las Vegas, Shumake made several high-performing passes in this dragster, giving Pritchett an extra dose of inspiration for his debut. Troy Fasching and Adem Cave will serve as co-crew chiefs on the second Scrappers-tuned dragster, with oversight from Rob Flynn and Arron Cave, who will be tuning teammate Jasmine Salinas next door. Pritchett is the fourth new Top Fuel driver this season to work with the support of Scrappers Racing to make a professional start in the sport. In addition to Jasmine, Shumake and Julie Nataas have also driven with the Scrappers crew this year. Pritchett will reveal a new livery paying homage to his godmother, legendary drag racer Bunny Burkett. The talented pro rookie has been a “driver for hire” this year racing everything from Nostalgia Funny Car to Super Street, likely gaining more track time than many of his fellow Top Fuel competitors. He’s hopeful that this experience will give him the edge he needs in this fiercely competitive field. At 6’4”, Pritchett can’t slide into just anyone’s Top Fuel ride. Luckily, he’s the same size as Shumake, adding a nice bit of serendipity to his story. The talented young driver, who previously worked on the multi-time championship team of Steve Torrence, will be pulling double duty this weekend as he will not only drive but will also maintain the clutch of this 12,000 horsepower beast. “I got my Top Fuel license in 2015,” recalls Pritchett. “I’ve been keeping it up all this time, just waiting for an opportunity like this. The drag racing community is so generous. I can’t tell you how many calls and texts I’ve received this week offering help in all directions. It already feels like a dream come true. And to have Bunny riding along with me on the side of this car - it’s perfect. Bunny not only got me into drag racing, but she also got the Cave brothers started in the sport. Her legacy is huge and I’m thrilled that Travis was on board with honoring her in this way.” Jasmine’s rookie season has been transformational for the talented young driver who took over the seat of the Valley Services Scrappers Racing Top Fuel dragster earlier this year when her father, Scrappers Racing team owner Mike Salinas, had to step back to take care of a medical matter. She’s eager to finish out the season strong and wants to make as many laps as possible before the season comes to a close. “I’ve learned a lot this year,” remarked Jasmine. “I don’t think I’ve fully had time to digest everything I’ve learned so I can put it into practice consistently. At this point, I am focusing on gratitude. It’s not lost on me that this has been the experience of a lifetime and I appreciate everyone who helped to make this happen. It’s not how I envisioned my career starting, but now that I’ve had a taste of Top Fuel, I’m not going anywhere. This dragster is where I belong. This off-season, we are going to actively pursue potential sponsor partners and work tirelessly to put a winning strategy in place for 2025.” In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Jianna has experienced the best-performing season of her burgeoning career. She rode to the finals in Bristol, Tenn. at the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in June and had two semifinal appearances aboard her Matt Smith-tuned Buell. She made the change over to a Buell at the beginning of the season and she’s thoroughly enjoyed piloting the torque-heavy motorcycle. She raced to new personal bests multiple times this season, seeing improvements in every meaningful metric. Jianna won the NHRA Finals in 2019, earning her first Wally at the iconic track, shaking up the points standings in the process, resulting in Andrew Hines taking the world championship from Jerry Savoie and Smith when she defeated Savoie in the final round of competition. “I always get excited about racing in Pomona,” said Jianna. “Not only is it special because I got my first win there, but there’s just so much history at this track. I can’t wait to race this Buell there! We’ve been making moves in the right direction all season long and I hope this is the moment when it all comes together and we can land in the winners circle again.” Competition in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series will feature two qualifying rounds at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 15. On Saturday, November 16, drivers will have two more opportunities to qualify at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Eliminations for the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals will kick off at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 17.
