- LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Announces Wendy’s® as Primary Partner for Noah Gragson in the Daytona 500
Press Release | LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, WENDY'S STATESVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 13, 2023) -- LEGACY MOTOR CLUB President, Business Operations Bruce Mosley today announced a partnership featuring a fast-food restaurant chain with a legacy of their own – Wendy’s®. Beginning this weekend at the 2023 DAYTONA 500, the iconic, square Wendy’s hamburger will be the primary race scheme on the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Noah Gragson. Gragson officially began his partnership with Wendy’s in 2020, and the two launched their first primary partnership last year during the GEICO 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at the Talladega Superspeedway. “This is a great partnership for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, Wendy’s, Noah Gragson, and fans of NASCAR,” said Mosley. “The DAYTONA 500 is the sport’s biggest stage so it’s a perfect place to show off the best in beef. I’m excited to see what Noah does on the track and what we, at LEGACY MOTOR CLUB and Wendy’s, can do off the track through our partnership.” In 1984, Wendy’s posed an unforgettable question that has reverberated throughout generations: Where’s the Beef®? Thirty-nine years later, Wendy’s is reminding fans that when they want the freshest, hottest and juiciest hamburger, all they need to do is look for the square at their local Wendy’s restaurant. While one might think of circular racetracks when they think of the DAYTONA 500, this weekend, it’s all about the square. The square makes it easy to find the best in the field whether it’s on a hamburger bun or on the track, with Gragson’s No. 42 Wendy’s car, nicknamed “The BEEF.” Adorned with the Wendy’s square hamburger that started it all, Gragson’s car pays homage to the high-quality, fresh, never frozen* square patties that have been a Wendy’s staple since the restaurant’s beginnings in 1969. “At Wendy’s, we’re focused on making great tasting hamburgers. To get to the best, it all starts with the best beef and we have a proven track record of delivering for our customers time and time again,” said Carl Loredo, U.S. Chief Marketing Officer for The Wendy's Company. “Partnering with Noah Gragson and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB is a no-brainer -- they both know a thing or two about a good beef and about being the best in their field. When NASCAR fans see the No. 42, they know a champion is behind the wheel. Similarly, when Wendy’s fans see the square, they know they’re getting the very best hamburger. We can’t wait to celebrate alongside NASCAR fans and give them an all-access pass to the best in beef all weekend long at Daytona.” Throughout race weekend, fans should look for the square when they’re looking for the best in the field – both on and off the track. Wendy’s Winner Square: For those on-site, fans can find the beef at the Wendy’s Winner’s Square located in the Daytona International Speedway infield. Look for the giant 22-foot-tall Square Hamburger Patty to find Wendy’s celebrating its first-place square hamburgers with FREE Dave’s Single® hamburgers, Hot & Crispy Fries and Gragson’s favorite Frosty® hack -- blue raspberry, topped with NERDS® candies. At the Wendy’s Winner’s Square, fans will also get an up-close-and-personal look at Noah Gragson’s No. 42 BEEF car and will have the chance to take home exclusive Team Wendy’s swag items, including limited edition t-shirts, hats and Frosty Key Tags, which can be redeemed for FREE Frosty treats for a year. Talk about a winning (and delicious) deal. Where’s The Beef? Square QR Codes**: But that’s not all – fans, both on-site and at home, should keep their eyes peeled for QR codes asking ‘Where’s the Beef?’ all weekend long. Spot it, scan it and find the best Beef in the game and the chance to win exciting prizes, like free Wendy’s Dave’s Single® hamburgers for a year, Wendy’s app offers, exclusive Daytona swag kits or even a custom video message from Gragson. “Welcoming Wendy’s on my No. 42 Chevy in the NASCAR Cup Series is just perfect. I love their food and I’m not afraid of a little beef,” said Gragson. “The partnership matches my personality, and we (me and the fans) are going to have fun with it. For my first Daytona with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB and the No. 42 team, I can’t wait to get on the track and give it our all.” The NASCAR Cup Series 2023 season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, February 19th, with the 65th running of the DAYTONA 500. Tune-in to FOX at 2:30 p.m. ET as LEGACY MOTOR CLUB makes its highly anticipated official on-track debut kicking off the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.
- JEAN-ÉRIC VERGNE WINS HISTORIC FORMULA E RACE IN INDIA - 2023 GREENKO HYDERABAD E-PRIX REPORT
Press Release | FORMULA E HYDERABAD, India. Sat. 11 Feb. 2023 - Jean-Éric Vergne (DS PENSKE) held on to win an extraordinary first-ever ABB FIA Formula E World Championship race in India in front of a sellout crowd and a host of dignitaries, Bollywood celebrities and sports stars. Vergne fought hard in the final third of the race to stay ahead of Envision Racing pair Nick Cassidy and Sébastien Buemi , though António Félix da Costa (TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team) ultimately took third after the Swiss was penalised post-race. It’s Vergne’s first trip to the top step of the Formula E podium since Rome in April 2021 (Season 7) and he achieved it in style. Vergne made his way to the front of the pack on lap 15 of 32 (plus one lap following a safety car), the double champion sweeping by Buemi at the hairpin after the Jaguar TCS Racing pair removed one another from the equation two laps prior. That incident saw Sam Bird make a lunge on the dirty side of the track on fourth-placed Sacha Fenestraz (Nissan Formula E Team). The Brit could not slow his I-TYPE 6 in time, colliding with teammate Mitch Evans - who was in third at the time - pitching the Kiwi's car into a spin. Both Jaguars were ultimately forced into retirement with the unlucky Fenestraz also left tumbling down the order in a race where a podium double looked a possibility for Jaguar. Vergne led the way from that moment but had his mirrors full of Cassidy's Envision Racing machine as the chequered flag drew closer. The New Zealander had managed to gather up an extra four percentage points of usable energy on Vergne come the closing stages of the race. However, Vergne is regarded as the consummate Formula E fighter and used every trick in the book to keep Cassidy at bay and cross the line first in what many will regard as one of his best wins and one that will live long in the memory on Formula E's first visit to India in front of a sold-out crowd of over 25,000 people. Buemi followed home in third but an overpower infringement saw him demoted to 15th spot via 17-second penalty, equivalent to a drive-through. That promoted TAG Heuer Porsche’s António Félix da Costa onto the podium in his 100th race, the Season 6 champion having started the race in 13th. Teammate Pascal Wehrlein crossed the line fourth after picking his way through the order from 12th on the grid. Sérgio Sette Câmara avoided trouble and climbed through the pack from 15th on the starting grid to produce NIO 333 Racing’s best result since Berlin in Season 4. Meanwhile, Oliver Rowland made a move for the podium on Buemi - not aware of the Swiss' impending penalty at the time - with just a lap to go. It didn't work out and saw him shuffled to sixth. Nevertheless, Rowland collected his first points of the season for Mahindra Racing in the team’s home race. Norman Nato steered to seventh and the TAG Heuer Fastest Lap. Reigning champion Stoffel Vandoorne (DS PENSKE) finished in eighth for his best result of the season so far, while André Lotterer (Avalanche Andretti Formula E) and Edoardo Mortara (Maserati MSG Racing) rounded out the top 10. Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti Formula E) was the victim of an over-enthusiastic René Rast move on lap 26 at the hairpin - the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team driver outbraking himself and rear-ending Dennis' car. That proved costly for the Brit, who was running comfortably in fourth and on for a strong points haul - particularly given the strong finish for the other man out front in the standings, Pascal Wehrlein. That left Wehrlein with an extended 18-point advantage on Dennis, with Vergne leaping to third in the Drivers' standings. TAG Heuer Porsche has taken a 23-point lead over Avalanche Andretti in the Teams' World Championship. In addition to the sellout capacity crowd of more than 25,000 fans, the historic race was attended by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Sri K T Rama Rao, Minister for IT, Industries & Commerce, Government of Telangana. Also enjoying the electric racing action were Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar , current Indian cricketers Shikhar Dhawan, Deepak Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal along with his actor and choreographer wife, Dhanashree Verma . Jean-Éric Vergne, No. 25, DS PENSKE, said: “I’m very, very happy. It was a tough race – I had to defend quite hard at the end but we somehow managed to win it. It was a clean race, no mistakes. Very happy with the win today. It’s good for everyone’s heart in our team. For the first few races it’s good to boost it with a good race like that so couldn’t be happier. “I like new tracks - I think it’s cool. Especially this one – it’s a lot of fun. When there is a lot of little secrets to find on the track, I probably find them quickly enough.” Nick Cassidy, No. 37, Envision Racing, said: “I mean I had a really good car today - huge thanks to all my guys. I think at the races this year we’ve been pretty good. I really feel for Mitch and Jaguar today because they’re a great partner and they’ve started the season very strongly. I think the package we have is really strong and so I’m super sorry to see them go out the race like that. “(On reason behind having no duels this season but getting on the podium). Apart from we’re good in races? Honestly, we’re there in quali as well. Riyadh, Mexico and here, the difference between P1 and being in the duals and being P5 has been two-tenths. There’s not a big margin between 5th and starting 10th or potentially pole. That day will come.” António Felix da Costa, No. 13, TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, said: “It felt like it meant to be. The race actually started really well and then I got squeezed by Dennis and I lost a lot of positions. But we stayed calm and worked our way back to the front slowly, and managed our energy. It hasn’t been an easy start for me. It was an emotional day for me looking back at the now 100 races or the 99 races before and where I am and things not working out like I want them to be. I can’t be satisfied with the way I am qualifying at the moment. Having said that, I have an amazing team behind me, always pushing me and giving me the tools. So I know it’s only a matter of time before we do a better job in qualifying and obviously the car can race really well. And yeah I’m really happy I came all the way to India and got a podium in my 100th race. “So much happened. I got angry, I was happy, I was calm, I was stressed. But again, I worked well with the team throughout the whole race and I guess that’s the experience of 100 races if I’m honest -starting there and coming all the way here.” Round 5 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the 2023 Cape Town E-Prix on Saturday, 25 February, the first time Formula E has raced in South Africa. - Countdown to Daytona - 8 Days
(Cover Photo Credit: Meg Oliphant/Getty Images) By Adam Carabine In case you missed it, StatChat is counting down the days ‘til the 2023 Daytona 500. Every two days, we will have a new article featuring one of the 36 charters of 2022. 4th Place – Chase Elliott – 5,009 pts HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS – CHEVROLET 857 Laps Led in 2022 – Top of the class, Chase Elliott led the most laps of anyone in 2022. Elliott is no stranger to being up front - he led nearly 100 more in 2021 as well. While clearly the No. 9 team at Hendrick Motorsports knows how to put fast cars together, driver input can’t be fully ignored. Having a fast car is only half of the battle – knowing what to do with it is key. Elliott has a knack for being in control of races, and while 2022 might not have been his best finish, he’s still among the top contenders, and will be for years to come. 2,360 Quality Passes in 2022 – Another area Chase Elliott excels is passing, particularly when up front. A Quality Pass is a pass made under green while driving in the Top 15. As noted earlier, Chase is no stranger to the front of the pack, but he also seems to be able to pass the stiffer competition that rides up there with him. His 2,360 Quality Passes was also the top number among Cup Series charters in 2022. 10.97 Average Running Position in 2022 – On average, in 2022, Chase Elliott was running 11th. That may not sound super impressive, but average running position is calculated by averaging what place you’re running at EVERY lap. So when you’re leading, sure, you’re making that number fall down, but when you’re a lap down, or way in the back, sometimes for a long time, that number grows quickly. Elliott’s 10.97 was also first among all Cup Series charters. 5 Wins in 2022 – In a season with 19 different winners, there weren’t many other wins available. Chase Elliott again led the field in this category, winning five times in 2022. Eventual champion Joey Logano had four, and no other driver had more than three. It’s sad that Elliott’s season ended with a 28th place finish at season finale in Phoenix, leading to him being the lowest finisher of the Championship Four. It’s a product of the current playoff system that Elliott didn’t earn his second championship in 2022. 36th-Placed Finish at the Southern 500 in 2022 – Speaking of the playoff format, Chase Elliott was nearly eliminated from the first round after a last-placed finish at the Southern 500, which also was the first race of the playoffs. Elliott had earned himself plenty of playoff points throughout the season just for situations like this, but he certainly didn’t make it easy on himself. Luckily he bounced back with an 11th and 2nd at Kansas and Bristol, respectively. Elliott eventually made the final four. It would be crazy to think that NASCAR’s most popular driver would not be a top priority to bring back to a team. Hendrick Motorsports signed Elliott to an extension early in 2022, so look for him to return to the No. 9 Chevrolet in 2023. Coming up next in the Countdown to Daytona series – Christopher Bell! - Ericsson Unveils 107th Indianapolis 500 Ticket at Hockey Game
Press Release | INDY 500 INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, Feb. 10, 2023) – NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Marcus Ericsson combined two of his passions – winning races and ice hockey – when he unveiled the ticket for the 107th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Friday night, Feb. 10 in Indianapolis. Ericsson earned his first victory in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” last May in the No. 8 Huski Chocolate Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, and one of the many spoils for the winner is the honor of unveiling the ticket for the next year’s race. The honor of the winning driver featured on the next year’s “500” ticket dates to Mauri Rose’s appearance in 1948. Swedish native Ericsson lifted the cover from the colorful ticket, featuring a photo of him dousing his head in the winner’s famous bottle of milk, during Indy 500 Night at the Indy Fuel hockey game at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis. He is an avid hockey fan and played the sport as a youth before focusing on racing. “I’m super excited to be here for Friday night hockey,” Ericsson said. “I’m a big hockey fan, playing hockey as a kid. I’ve been to a few (Fuel) games. It’s always a good time. Obviously, being the Indy 500 Night is extra special, and unveiling this year’s Indy 500 ticket is really exciting.” It was the second Indy 500-related honor in as many weeks for Ericsson, who is entering his fifth NTT INDYCAR SERIES season this year. He and team owner Chip Ganassi also received their “Baby Borg” replicas of the Borg-Warner Trophy for winning the Indy 500 last week during the series’ open test at The Thermal Club near Palm Springs, California. Ericsson will defend his Indianapolis 500 victory Sunday, May 28 in the 107th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with live coverage starting at 11 a.m. ET on NBC and the INDYCAR Radio Network. Tickets for the Indy 500 and all Month of May activities are on sale at IMS.com, by calling the IMS Ticket Office at 317-492-6700 or by visiting the Ticket Office. The 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season starts Sunday, March 5 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding in St. Petersburg, Florida (live, noon ET, NBC and INDYCAR Radio Network).
- 100 DAYS OUT: A LOOK AT MEMORABLE CHICAGO MOMENTS AS NHRA RETURNS TO ROUTE 66 RACEWAY
Press Release | NHRA INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 9, 2022) – For the first time since 2019, the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series will be racing at Route 66 Raceway, with the 23rd annual Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance set to take place May 19-21. With 100 days remaining before the NHRA stars return to deliver non-stop, 330-mph excitement at the fan-favorite facility, here’s a look at some of the record-breaking runs, historical performances and memorable moments that have taken place at Route 66 Raceway since the track opened in 1998. FORCE MAKES HISTORY: It was 2000 and John Force was on the cusp of history. He rolled into Chicago tied with Bob Glidden for career victories (85) and in the midst of his dominant Funny Car championship run. He thrilled the Chicago fans that day, knocking off Jerry Toliver in a great side-by-side race in the final round, giving the legendary Force his 86th win. He’s now at 155 victories and 16 world titles and when the iconic driver returns to Chicago in 2023, he’ll be seeking his fourth victory at his sponsor’s race. BERNSTEIN CRUSHES RECORDS: A year later, another legend made a strong impression on the Chicago faithful, as Kenny Bernstein swept both events at Route 66 Raceway. Along the way, he made the quickest run in Top Fuel history with a blast of 4.477-seconds at 330.88 mph. That led to a win at the May race and he followed with another Chicago victory later in the year, setting a record-breaking theme at Route 66 Raceway. The quickest side-by-side run in Funny Car history also happened that year and Whit Bazemore set both ends of the Funny Car record in 2001. Records continued to fall over the next several years in the nitro classes, including Doug Kalitta going 333.00 in 2003, Brandon Bernstein topping it a year later with a run of 333.41 in 2004. The 2004 race in Funny Car also marked the quickest qualifying bump in class history at the time. ERICA BREAKS THROUGH: In a magical weekend, Erica Enders made her own history at Chicago in 2012. It will remain one of the lasting moments in Chicago history, with Enders racing to her first career victory – becoming the first female to ever win in Pro Stock – by defeating Greg Anderson in the final round with a run of 6.627 at 207.40. That it came against class standout Anderson made it that much sweeter for Enders, whose career took off in a major way following that victory. She’s since won five world titles and 42 more races since that event, including a dominant 10-win performance in 2022 en route to the championship. With the Pro Stock All-Star Callout taking place in Chicago in 2023, Enders will aim for another big weekend at Route 66 Raceway this year. SCHUMACHER’S EXPLOSIVE VICTORY: A Chicago-area native, winning at Route 66 Raceway always meant a little more for eight-time Top Fuel world champ Tony Schumacher. He did it often, too, posting five victories at the facility, but his 2013 triumph over Clay Millican was one of his most memorable. He had a spectacular engine explosion at the finish line in the championship round, barely hanging on with a run of 3.930 at 269.29. Two years later, Schumacher won for the fifth time in Chicago, which ties him for a share of the lead at the facility. Jeg Coughlin Jr. won five times in Pro Stock at Chicago, while Antron Brown has five between his three in Top Fuel and two in Pro Stock Motorcycle. His first victory in the two-wheeled category at Route 66 Raceway came in 2000, the same year Force made history, and Brown could become the first six-time event winner in 2023 if takes the victory over what’s sure to be a stout Top Fuel field. LEGENDS LOVE CHICAGO: From the likes of Force, Bernstein, Coughlin and Schumacher, it’s been an incredible list of standouts who have celebrated in the winner’s circle at Route 66 Raceway. Along with that foursome, legends like Warren Johnson, Kurt Johnson, Anderson, Enders, Brown and Gary Scelzi have all won at the facility. Recent stars and world champs like Ron Capps, Robert Hight, Matt Smith and Steve Torrence also have triumphed in Chicago, setting the stage for what should be an incredible return event in 2023. Torrence (Top Fuel), Tommy Johnson Jr. (Funny Car), Deric Kramer (Pro Stock) and Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all won the most recent race in 2019 and this year’s race will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 (FS1). Along with Torrence, Kramer and Smith looking to pick up where they left off four years ago, fans will also be treated to the Pro Stock All-Star Callout on Saturday, as well as the #2Fast2Tasty Mission NHRA Challenge in both nitro classes and Pro Stock Motorcycle. That leads into eliminations on Sunday, where stars in all four professional categories will look to earn an early-season victory at the sixth of 21 races during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season. To purchase tickets to the 23rd annual Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance, fans can visit www.NHRA.com/tickets. All children 12 and under will be admitted free in the general admission area with a paid adult. For more information about NHRA, visit www.NHRA.com.

- Morgan & Morgan Signs NASCAR CRAFTSMAN(R) Truck Series Driver Chris Hacker to Multi-Race Partnership
Press Release | CHRIS HACKER, MORGAN & MORGAN [Orlando, FL] — Morgan & Morgan, America’s largest injury law firm, announced today that it will become an official marketing partner of professional driver and rookie Chris Hacker for multiple races of the upcoming NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series. The agreement will enable Morgan & Morgan to wrap and design Hacker’s truck for five of the 2023 season’s races. Entering his rookie year, Hacker has joined On Point Motorsports and their Toyota program for the season opener at Daytona and is poised for the first time in his racing career to compete in top equipment consistently each race. Hacker is the first NASCAR driver known to have a brachial plexus birth injury that limits movement in his left arm. Brachial plexus injuries occur when a baby’s neck is stretched to one side during birth, damaging the network of nerves that controls the muscles from the shoulder down to the fingers. After three major surgeries, including nerve grafting and tendon transfers, he has gained sufficient mobility in his arm to race. He drives his car with his left arm resting on the wheel while steering with his right. “This is our second year in partnership with Chris and his team, and we’re thrilled to support him in this pivotal season of his career,” said Morgan & Morgan founder John Morgan. “Chris’ determination to succeed and overcome adversity during his life inspires everyone around him. “Our firm’s mission ‘For the People,’ was founded on the principle that all who are injured deserve a fighting chance to achieve justice, and Chris’ story is a reminder of how everyone deserves the opportunity to keep their injuries from dictating the rest of their lives.” Hacker has long been passionate about supporting other kids and individuals with brachial plexus injuries and advocating for the United Brachial Plexus Network (UBPN), which offers resources for people with this condition as well as hosts a bi-annual camp for affected individuals and their families. Morgan & Morgan’s sponsorship of Hacker will also enable him to further support UBPN initiatives in the future, and UBPN will be featured as part of the truck wrap design to drive awareness. “I’m thrilled to continue my partnership with Morgan & Morgan into what will be one of the most exciting years of my racing career,” added Chris Hacker. “My experience overcoming my own birth injury and realizing my dream of being a NASCAR driver would not have been possible without the work of attorneys like those at Morgan & Morgan, and I’m inspired by their dedication to achieving justice for children and families affected by these injuries.” Hacker began his racing career at eight years old racing in Quarter Midgets. He became the youngest driver to ever win a Champion Racing Association event at the age of 13. He had always dreamt of becoming a NASCAR driver, but in 2015 experienced a wreck that required costly repairs to his car, making his dream seem out of reach. His parents had sought justice years earlier for the medical malpractice that caused his brachial plexus injury at birth, and with the funds from the settlement he was able to repair and modify his car to restart his racing career. He made his debut in the Truck Series on August 20, 2021, at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway in the Toyota 200. Morgan & Morgan will sponsor Hacker’s truck in the following NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series races: ● February 17, 2023, at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway ● March 18, 2023, at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway ● June 3, 2023, at World Wide Technology at Gateway ● August 11, 2023, at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park ● September 14, 2023, at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway To learn more about the sponsorship please visit our social media pages @ForThePeople. For more on Chris Hacker, please like him on Facebook (Chris Hacker Motorsports), and follow him on Twitter (@chrishacker_) and Instagram (@chris_hacker). Practice begins on Thurs, Feb. 16 from 5:05 p.m. – 5:55 p.m. Qualifying is set for race day, Fri., Feb. 17 beginning at 3:00 p.m. The field will take the green flag shortly after 7:30 p.m. with live coverage on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.

- Motorsports Management International Returns After 10+ Year Hiatus
Press Release | MOTORSPORTS MANAGEMENT INTERNATIONAL HARRISBURG, N.C. (February 10, 2023) – After a decade of inactivity, Motorsports Management International (MMI), the first and foremost driver representation and management agency, is being relaunched to provide best-in-class services to professional race car drivers across the country. With a historic legacy dating back over three decades, MMI has represented some of the best talent across North American motorsports including Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, Jamie McMurray and Aric Almirola. Joining MMI as both a founding member and client is current NASCAR Cup Series driver Ross Chastain. Chastain’s remarkable story to becoming an elite driver in NASCAR’s top series is well-documented across the American sports landscape. During the 2022 season, Chastain earned two NASCAR Cup Series wins and finished second in the season-ending points standings. “The opportunity to be part of relaunching Motorsports Management International is an honor,” said Chastain. “While my focus will always be about performance on the track, this is a great step for me to build my business acumen in a space that is close to my heart. I know with the support of my existing Spire team, coupled with Cary Agajanian’s visionary leadership, we have a great opportunity in front of us.” The relaunching of MMI aligns with the reorganization of the agency business within Spire Holdings as it builds on its property-focused business model which includes Spire Motorsports, Track Enterprises and Spire Hockey. Spire Sports + Entertainment, led by Jeff Dickerson and T.J. Puchyr, championed the careers of talented drivers including Kyle Larson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Regan Smith and Ben Rhodes. “The timing was right to shift the majority of our focus to our properties,” said company co-owner Jeff Dickerson. “We cut our teeth as a company in driver representation. T.J. and I are extremely proud of the work our team has accomplished and we look forward to seeing where the next generation of talent can take that business. “Cary’s impact on motorsports, through the powerful and industry-defining work of MMI, has been immense. While he has not spent the last decade in the spotlight, the traditions and values instilled in all of us by Cary – honesty, integrity, dedication, and a true passion for motorsports – have carried on. We all relish the opportunity to revive and strengthen the traditions and values of MMI with this next venture. It is our re-commitment to the future of the sport and the success of the competitors that bring it to life. In truth, the story of MMI was never fully written, and Cary did not have the opportunity to enjoy the long-lasting impact of MMI’s legacy. I have great faith and trust in these new authors who will write the next volume of the MMI story.” The newly relaunched MMI will be led by David Erickson and Phillip Smalley, seasoned members of the former Spire Sports + Entertainment driver management team. Agajanian, a motorsports icon, will contribute as a Senior Advisor. MMI will lean on Agajanian’s rich history, knowledge and experience, as well as Spire and its executive team including Dickerson, Puchyr, Bill Anthony and Emma Setzer. MMI will offer practical solutions in the very complex world of professional auto racing including all aspects of personal and professional development. Services will be divided into three buckets: business consulting, content/brand building and revenue generation. More information can be found at mmi98.com.
