  • Top 10 Tweets Of The Week

LOGAN MORRIS Each week as the motorsports world starts looking forward to the next race. I like to take a look back and see what went down on Twitter. With that, let's take a look at your Top Ten Tweets of the week for April 10th through April 17th. 10. Larry Mac getting back atop the box in 2022? Retirements in racing are a lot like retirements in pro wrestling, you just never say never. 9. Could arguably the greatest to ever do it be strapping in one more time for Le Mans? The odds sound increasingly likely. 8. Holy Nostalgia Batman! Could we see it return to the NASCAR schedule in the future? 7. With the length of sporting events becoming a hot topic in recent years, this thread on the length of NASCAR races is well worth a read. 6. SRX season 2 is getting closer by the day! Shout out to their social media team for some top-notch content. 5. This was a bad look for the sport in my opinion. The scoring seemed overly complicated. But, we're all learning during these dirt races. 4. Harvick isn't happy. There's been a lot of discussion about whether the dirt race should continue, sounds like you can count Harvick in the cut the cord camp. 3. He won that Mama Jama. 2. They weren't thrilled. Perhaps they were ready to look out for some haymakers? Glad it went the complete opposite. 1. First DW and now Dale Jr?! The crossover we have all wanted to see is going to happen. Bowyer and Dale should be a hoot, and who knows Talladega better than Dale Jr? Very few, if any! Props to Fox and NBC for making this happen. That'll do it for your top ten tweets of the week! • Collin Best, Racing Refresh Veteran Writer Recognized as 'Senior Open-Wheel Writer'

Longtime Racing Refresh writer and contributor Collin Best has worked diligently to provide Racing Refresh readers and content consumers with his stories via a true and classic journalism technique. He answers the 'Who? What? Where?' in his articles. His creative content evolved in 2021 when his focus became a combination of video gaming and open-wheel racing news and analysis. Ode to one of his motorsports heroes, he was as inspired as he was hurt when longtime analyst Robin Miller passed away in 2021. Robin's spirit influenced many of the team at Racing Refresh, and many other fans around the world. In his final years he was known at Racer Magazine as 'Senior Open-Wheel Writer'. To more properly identify and recognize Collin's work, while paying tribute to Robin Miller, it was decided in March that Collin would become the Senior Open-Wheel Writer at Racing Refresh moving forward. AJ Appeal, editor of Racing Refresh had the following to say regarding the decision. "Collin's work took a while to calibrate on our team. We've moved him around from one series to another, video games, podcast, writing, and behind the scenes have all been key factors to his growth here at RR. In recent months, we have allowed him to grow independently and he accomplished a successful transition to covering open-wheel racing, a sometimes niche genre of motorsport in the United States, but one that should never be forgotten. Prior to Racing Refresh's media approval, we piggy-backed off of Collin's IndyCar press credentials, and he has succeeded through each speedbump that has occurred as Racing Refresh has grown. We are genuinely appreciative of his effort and thrilled to see him continue his journey with us." Collin shared his thoughts upon learning he would be named Senior Open-Wheel Writer. "First, I would like to thank the entire Racing Refresh family for this opportunity. My passion for open-wheel racing has been around for as long as I can remember. Watching the best drivers in the world test the limits of man and machine at some of the most iconic racing circuits around the world. In America, the interests of these series are growing at an exponential rate while fans don't have many places to find information about them. I'm glad Racing Refresh is going to be one of the few who give quality content for fans around the world and I'm forever grateful that I will be the one entrusted to do so." You can find all of Collin's content on RacingRefresh.com, or on Facebook LIVE, where he competes on iRacing in his 'Road to Class A' story.

  • Top 10 Tweets Of The Week

LOGAN MORRIS Each week as the motorsports world begins to look forward to the next weekend's races I like to look back and see what took place on Twitter. Here are your top 10 tweets of the week for April 3rd through April 10th! 10. In recent weeks much has been made about whether NASCAR should bring back the old school victory lane interviews as opposed to the interviews at the start-finish line of recent memory. Personally, I prefer the victory lane celebrations. 9. Not good news for RFK racing. Talk about having to dig out of a hole. 8. Major props to Jimmie Johnson for giving it a go this week with a broken hand. There's no questioning his drive and commitment. Hopefully, he'll be close to 100% for the Indy 500 in May. 7. As entertaining as a Friday night fight can be, it's never good when drivers brawl with each other. Teams work too hard and sponsors pay too much money for anyone to truly support this kind of thing. 6. I would be surprised if nothing is done here. The circumstances felt a little different than your usual boys have at it moment. 5. Who doesn't love Waffle Day? 4. I don't know what the future of the Bristol Dirt Race is but when two people of that stature take issue with it, it's at least worth noting. 3. I understand this. I love Saturday races, but my entire Sunday feels off when it happens. Sunday is race day. 2. Guess who's back? Back again, DW's back, tell a friend! 1. Richmond was tough on Kurt Busch as you can tell. He had a great bounce-back day at the paperclip though. That'll do for your Top 10 Tweets of the week. Keep refreshing our website daily to stay up to date with all your Motorsports news.

  • Leclerc gets the Grand Slam in Australia: Formula One Race Review

(Ferrari on Twitter) After two years away from the Albert Park Street Circuit in Melbourne, Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions, a record attendance of over 400,000 people packed the outskirts of the circuit to see the return of the Australian Grand Prix in which Charles Leclerc hit the Grand Slam of Formula One in rout to a dominating victory. Leclerc sat on pole position when the lights went out on Sunday as 20 of the worlds best drivers barreled into the newly reconfigured circuit with Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen right behind him. During the parade lap, Carlos Sainz unfortunately had issues with anti-stall on lap one and fell all the way to 14th by lap 2. In an attempt to fight his way back towards the front, Sainz lost control of his car trying to pass the Haas of Mick Schumacher in Turn 10. Sainz got trapped in the gravel pit and was forced to retire from the race. After the incident, a safety car was deployed. After the safety car was called in, Lewis Hamilton was passed by Sergio Perez on lap 10. During the caution, Lance Stroll pitted twice to change his tires from hard to medium, and then medium to hard as rules state that he must run two tire compounds during the race. Never specified for how long. The second safety car was brought out on lap 24 as an accident forced Sebastian Vettel to retire the car. George Russell used the opportunity to pit and come out third behind Leclerc. On lap 39, a virtual safety car was deployed as Max Verstappen had to retire due to engine trouble. The safety period was dropped on lap later. In a very strong showing, Alex Albon, who started in 20th position for Williams made a pit stop on lap 57 to change tires. In a more impressive effort, Albon finished in 10th place which gave Williams its first championship points for the 2022 season. For Leclerc he started on pole, had the fastest lap, and won the race in dominating fashion by 20 seconds over Perez. Since 2011, every driver who completed a grand slam in a Formula One season has gone on to win the championship at seasons end. • Newgarden gives Team Penske three wins in three races at Long Beach

(Team Penske on Twitter) In St. Petersburg, Scott McLaughlin put on an absolute clinic to open up the season. A few weeks later, McLaughlin almost pulled off another dominating win at Texas Motor Speedway until Josef Newgarden passed him coming off Turn Four for the final time to beat him back to the line. On Sunday, Newgarden and Team Penske made it three-for-three to open up the NTT IndyCar Season with an exciting race at the Grad Prix of Long Beach...but it wasn't easy. With Colton Herta taking the P1 Award on Saturday, he led the field to green with Newgarden close behind to join him on the front row. Herta jumped out to a massive lead by lap five by nearly two seconds over Newgarden. AJ Foyt Racing's Dalton Kellett brought out the first caution of the day by overdriving Turn One and getting into the saftey barrier. Effectively, ending his day. After the first pit cycle of the day, Alex Palou overtook Newgarden and Herta to take the lead during green flag stops. On the battle out of pit road, Herta took second and Newgarden dropped to third. A few laps later in a incident similar to what happened at the Nashville Grand Prix, Colton Herta, who was on his in-lap to pit road, had a severe lock-up going into turn nine and hit the outside retaining wall. He limped his way to an access road and ended his day. During this time, Newgarden was able to get out ahead of Palou on the second pit cycle of the day. On Lap 60, the second caution of the day occurred when Simon Pagenaud and Takuma Sato made contact in the fountain carousel and got mid-pointed on the fountain itself. While that was happening, Romain Grosjean pitted for the soft Firestone tires to make a run to the end in hopes of catching Palou and Newgarden at the front. During the battle between Grosjean and Newgarden, both used the remaining amount of push-to-pass and Newgarden retained the lead. This battle did not last long as a caution once again descended over the streets of Long Beach, California as Jimmie Johnson lost control and spun, collecting David Malukas. Ending both of their days. With only five laps to go the race restarted and Grosjean was able to get to the outside of Newgarden as the entered Turn One, but Newgarden was able to hold on until the final caution of the day in which Takuma Sato hit the wall in Turn 8. The race finished under caution as Newgarden picked up his second win of the season. Race Results: 1st: Josef Newgarden 2nd: Romain Grosgean 3rd: Alex Palou 4th: Will Power 5th: Pato O'Ward 6th Scott Dixon 7th: Graham Rahal 8th: Alexander Rossi 9th: Helio Castroneves 10th: Kyle Kirkwood Championship Standings (Top 3) 1st: Josef Newgarden - 118 Points 2nd: Scott McLaughlin - 113 Points 3rd: Alex Palou - 103 Points The next race for the NTT IndyCar Series is Sunday, May 1st at Barber Motorsports Park for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. Coverage starts at 1:00 P.M. Est on your local NBC affiliate. For more IndyCar news, results, and opinion; stay right here on Racing Refresh Follow me on Twitter @TheCollinBest
