  • Bayley Currey, Ross Chastain, and Matt Gould to Share Niece Motorsports Entry

Press Release | NIECE MOTORSPORTS Niece Motorsports will once again field four entries in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series this season. The fourth, part-time entry, branded as the No. 41 Chevrolet Silverado RST, features a blend of youth and experience split among multiple drivers. Driftwood, Texas native, Bayley Currey, will return as a driver for the No. 41 team. Currey, who has made 48 starts for the team since 2019, is coming off an 18th-place points finish following his first full-time opportunity in 2024. Having gained experience in all three NASCAR national series, Currey is known for his consistency behind the wheel and mechanical knowledge. The 29-year-old will open the season driving at Atlanta Motor Speedway, primarily backed by Masked Owl Technologies. Masked Owl largely supported Currey’s efforts throughout 2024, and the company is eager to re-sign with the team for a second-consecutive season. “I’m grateful to Al Niece and everyone at Masked Owl Technologies for continuing to believe in me and what we have going on the No. 41 team. This year will be fun to work with other drivers as we share the same goal of improving every week. Since we aren’t driving the whole year and points aren’t the main focus, I think that allows us the opportunity to try some different things to contend for wins. We are going to give it our best shot in every race.” Masked Owl Technologies was established in 2023 with one goal: to meet clients’ process improvement needs through a tailored approach that prioritizes identifying the root cause of system issues first, then deploying an efficient, cost-effective, and targeted solution. Alva, Florida’s Ross Chastain, will compete in five NCTS races in addition to his full-time NASCAR Cup Series role with Trackhouse Racing’s No. 1 Chevrolet. Chastain’s schedule will see him compete in events at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, and Watkins Glen International. A five-time race winner, Chastain has been instrumental to Niece Motorsports’ success since 2018. Last year, the veteran delivered the team its ninth victory at Darlington Raceway. (But, if you ask him, it should have technically been the team’s 10th series win). “I’m looking forward to racing at all these tracks on my schedule this year,” said Chastain. “It’s hard to believe that this will be the eighth year that Al Niece has put me in one of his trucks. Everyone at Niece Motorsports treats me like family when I show up, and I think that’s a testament to what Al and Cody (Efaw) have built here in Salisbury. I’m also very thankful that Justin Marks and everyone at Trackhouse is on board with letting me compete in other series to stay sharp on Sundays. We had some good runs last year and know what to improve on to make this year even better, I feel like this team is as strong as ever now.” Rounding out the No. 41 driver lineup will be Mooresville, North Carolina’s Matt Gould, son of Niece Motorsports’ winningest crew chief, Phil Gould. Gould, 19, made his NCTS debut at the Milwaukee Mile in 2024 and later drove in one additional start at Martinsville Speedway. Primarily a Late Model Stock competitor in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series, Gould’s schedule will be reveled at a later date. “I’m very excited to get another opportunity to race in the Truck Series with Niece Motorsports,” said Gould. “I feel like we were on track to have some good results last year in my first couple of starts before issues prohibited it. So this year, to have more opportunities ahead as I continue to learn will be great. I’ve known Ross for six years now; he’s done so much for me, and Bayley and I are like brothers. So, it’s going to be awesome to work with them.” Currey, Chastain, and Gould will work alongside full-time teammates, Matt Mills (No. 42), Christian Rose (No. 44), and Kaden Honeycutt (No. 45). Competition personnel for the team will be revealed in the near future, along with additional partnership announcements. The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 14. FOX Sports 1 will cover the Fresh From Florida 250 live at 7:30 PM ET. However, the team experienced a significant decline, scoring 186 fewer points compared to 2023, marked by inconsistent performances and no race finishes higher than 5th. Lance Stroll faced significant challenges, being out-qualified 19-5 and outscored 70-24 by his veteran teammate, Fernando Alonso. His season was further marred by on-track mishaps, including a notable incident in Brazil where he beached his car during the formation lap, resulting in a DNF. With the legendary Adrian Newey now involved full-time, can he help restore the team to the competitive form they displayed two seasons ago?   Bold Prediction With Newey aboard and Alonso still defeating father time, Aston Martin enjoys a bounce-back season and contends for a top 4 finish in the constructors’ standings.

  • "Being Consistent is the Biggest Thing for Me in 2025" - Exclusive Interview with Leland Honeyman Jr

(Photo Courtesy Young's Motorsports) By Logan Morris Leland Honyman Jr. was recently announced as one of the drivers for the newly formed Cope Family Racing. Coming into his second season in the Xfinity Series, Honeyman feels much more confident with some experience and extended practice times. In an exclusive interview with Racing Refresh, he talked at length about how the practice times were a challenge last year. “That was the biggest challenge—building a notebook for both the team and myself as a rookie. Every weekend, I focused on learning and creating notes to prepare for the next race. This year, it feels weird not being a rookie anymore. I still feel like one because I’m only 19 years old! I’ll be heading to Daytona as a 19-year-old, which is surreal. I’m excited, though. Our practice time is slightly extended this year—by maybe 5 or 10 minutes—but it’s still not much. Twenty minutes just isn’t enough time, especially when you’re making changes.” With his new team, he’ll have a Daytona 500 Champion as a mentor in the form of Team General Manager Derrike Cope and Honeyman is excited to use him as a resource.  “I think that having Derek, just because of him being a manager in the past at a Cup team, that's a really big deal too. He’s so smart. When you talk to him, I feel like I’m talking to someone on Wall Street. He just knows what he's doing. He's super smart, and the way he runs his business really, really well too. The things that he tells me and shows me are really cool. Everything he does is in-house, family-wise. He keeps things smaller and in-house. I like that. It's not all scattered everywhere where you don't know who you're talking to half the time.” “I just like the way he does things. Him being a mentor towards me and coming off with that Daytona win in 1990—I think that's going to help me a lot going into Daytona this year. Just learning and thinking about the things that he did in the race car then and preparing myself for that moment when it comes." (Photo Credit: instagram.com/lelandhoneymanjr ) I also asked Honeyman how this deal with Cope Family Racing came about. He explained, “I’ve been friends with [Cope Family Racing co-owner] Nick Tucker for a pretty long time now. His relationship with Derrike kind of paved the way. Nick was at the NASCAR races last year, hanging around, and I saw him a bunch. He talked to me and mentioned that Derrike had an opportunity in the Xfinity Series for 2025. I thought, ‘Oh, that’d be awesome.’ So, we got in touch with Derrike, and he pointed us in the right direction.” “We talked to him about his expectations for the season, and everything came together. We weighed our options and decided that not going full-time this year would probably be the best move for me. Financially, and with my sponsors, it made sense to go part-time with 17 races for Cope Family Racing. They’ve got better motors this year, so that’s exciting. I’m really looking forward to working with Derrike, George, and Nick. It feels like a great fit for 2025.” In 2025, Honeyman is hoping to be consistent and learn.  “The biggest thing for me is being consistent this year. I felt like I did a really good job learning that last year and just being more consistent in the Xfinity car. I felt like I grew up racing really consistently too—just every lap, being so consistent, so consistent. I think that's what makes you the best race car driver. I think that's what makes the greats ‘the greats.’ Being consistent is the biggest thing for me in 2025—just knocking out as many top-15s, top-10s, top-5s, and wins. Whatever that is, I want to do it.” Honeyman and Derrike Cope have talked about not setting too many expectations on the team.  “I don't want to set any expectations because if I go out there and something happens, then it messes with my head. I don't want to do that. I'd rather go out there and keep my standards low. If I go out there and I run really well, I’m like, 'heck yeah, this is amazing,' and maybe it makes me a better race car driver mentally. We'll see. That's something I want to test myself on this year." You can follow Leland Honeyman Jr on his social media @lelandhoneymanjr on Instagram and @lelandhoneymnjr on X.

  • Racing Refresh Team Previews - Big Machine Racing

By Adam Carabine Big Machine Racing One full-time entry in the NASCAR Xfinity Series   Car No. 48 Nick Sanchez Nick Sanchez celebrates his Crafstman Truck Series victory at Charlotte - Photo by Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images 2024 Stats Nick Sanchez spent 2024 with Rev Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Final Standings Position – 5th  Best 2024 Finish – P1 twice, at Daytona and Charlotte Points – 2,280 Average Finish – 9.35   Career Xfinity Series Stats Starts – 8 Wins – 0 Best Career Season Finish Position – N/A   2025 Hopes and Expectations After Parker Kligerman announced he was stepping down from full-time racing, and the ride he had in 2024, Nick Sanchez was announced as the new driver of the No. 48 car.  Moving up from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Sanchez will compete for Rookie of the Year.  Winning that would spell a successful year for Big Machine, though the ROTY field is stacked this year in the Xfinity Series.  The 48 car certainly can challenge for wins, though Kligerman was unable to find victory lane in his two year stint with the team.  A more realistic goal would be for the team to make the playoffs, whether that’s with a win or just on points.

  • Racing Refresh Team Previews - CR7 Motorsports

By Adam Carabine CR7 Motorsports One full-time entry in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series   Truck No. 9 Grant Enfinger Grant Enfinger after winning at Homestead-Miami last season - Photo by James Gilbert/Getty Images 2024 Stats Grant Enfinger was in this ride last season as well Final Standings Position – 4th  Best 2024 Finish – P1 twice, back-to-back at Talladega and Homestead Points – 4,032 Average Finish – 10.57   Career Truck Series Stats Starts – 196 Wins – 12 Best Career Season Finish Position – 2nd in 2023 with GMS Racing   2025 Hopes and Expectations While CR7 Motorsports seems like one of the smaller, lesser-funded teams, they have a world-class Truck Series talent in Grant Enfinger back for his second year.  Last season was Enfinger’s third trip to the Final Four, and though he still looks for that elusive first champion, he’s a driver that CR7 can count on.  Enfinger has shown he can win at least one race per season, and the team will hope he’s good to do that again this year.  At this point in Enfinger’s career, it’s likely championship or bust for him.

Meanwhile, Pierre Gasly secured a multi-year contract extension in June, keeping him with the team until at least 2026. Despite a significant points reduction in 2024 due to the rise of rival teams, Alpine managed to retain 6th place in the Constructors' standings. The team’s focus will likely be on maintaining competitiveness in the midfield and fostering Doohan’s development alongside the experienced Gasly. This will be Alpine’s final year as an engine manufacturer, which could be promising news given that their power unit has consistently ranked among the weakest on the grid in terms of output. The key question is how much development effort has been invested in the 2025 power unit and whether it will impact their on-track performance.   Bold Prediction Alpine’s underperforming engine and Jack Doohan’s inconsistency cost the team, resulting in a drop to 7th place in the standings.

  • “I’m Pumped to Get Out There and Rip with this Team” – Exclusive Interview with Ryan Roulette

By Adam Carabine and Logan Morris This morning, Freedom Racing Enterprises announced that ARCA Menards Series driver Ryan Roulette would be piloting their No. 67 Truck for three races in 2025.  We had a chance to catch up with Ryan and ask him about his new venture.   “We’ve been working on this deal for upward of five months now.  It finally came together this week and we’re excited to make that big announcement,” a smiling Ryan Roulette said in a conversation with Racing Refresh.    While he wasn’t able to expand and announce which races he will be doing with FRE, he did confirm that it is slated to be three over the course of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule.  Photo by Adam Glanzman/ARCA Racing Being a driver without a big funding background, Roulette found some shared values with Freedom Racing Enterprises' co-owner and fellow driver, Spencer Boyd.   “He knows what it’s like to grind.  He doesn’t come from a background that is heavily funded. He knows exactly what I’m going through, and he’s experienced what I’m going through, so having him on my side […] allowed me to work something that made sense for both of us overall, to grow FRE and make it an even better team for 2025.”   “I’m pumped to get out there and rip with this team!”   Ryan Roulette grew up as a NASCAR fan watching his favourite driver, Rusty Wallace, each weekend.   “I didn’t grow up in a racing family, I grew up in a spectator family,” he said.  In high school, he got the opportunity to help out a friend’s father’s sprint car team, and the rest is history.   “I started in racing, scraping mud off of tires.  Here I am a few years later, out on the big track.”   While he started his driving career as a dirt racer, he crossed over to asphalt racing six years ago.  Jokingly, he added, “I’ll be honest, for the longest time I used to say that asphalt is for getting to the race track, and dirt is for racing.  Once I made that transition, I’ve never really looked back.”   Roulette’s part-time Craftsman Truck Series schedule will compliment his planned six-to-seven races in the ARCA Menards Series as well.  “I have announced that we’ll be going to Daytona here real soon, so I’m pretty pumped about that.”   He talked about the excitement of racing with some fairly big names this season.  Mentioning names like Helio Castroneves, Katherine Legge, and Cleetus McFarland, Roulette is expecting the competition to be fierce.   “There’s going to be some real unique talent out there, and I think it’s going to put a lot of eyes on ARCA, and I think it’s going to be good for the sport overall.  […] As much as I’m excited to go out there and race with them, I’m hoping to smoke ‘em! Should be a fun race though.”   On top of all of this, Ryan Roulette is currently an active duty military member, who flies planes for a living.  It’s this connection that led to a partnership with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) which will be on both his car and truck this season.   “The VFW of 2025 is not your grand-daddy’s VFW.  It has changed significantly in a good way, and I really hope that what we’re doing out on the track is showing that to people and getting more veterans involved in the organization.”   Find Ryan Roulette on Instagram - @TheRyanRoulette Facebook – Ryan Roulette Racing or on his website – www.ryanrouletteracing.com

  • Chandler Smith Driving for Garage 66 at Daytona 500

Press Release | GARAGE 66 Garage 66 has signed Chandler Smith to compete in the 67th Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, driving the No. 66 QuickTie Ford Mustang Dark Horse. The Talking Rock, Georgia native has ascended the NASCAR ranks and already picked up several race victories in his young career. After graduating from the ARCA Menards Series with ten wins, Smith has earned five NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series wins and three NASCAR Xfinity Series wins, including two last season on his way to a Top 5 finish in the championship. In 2025, he will be racing full-time for Front Row Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. “I’m very excited for the opportunity to race our way into the Daytona 500 with Garage 66. Being in The Great American Race is such an honor, and I can’t thank QuickTie and Carl Long enough for helping put this all together,” said Smith. The 22-year-old already has NextGen superspeedway race experience, finishing in the Top 15 in the 2023 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona. He has Top 20 finishes in all three of his NASCAR Cup Series starts to date. Carl Long, who operates Garage 66 with co-owners Rocky and Tom Smith as well as John Jackson, had a tumultuous few days after Mike Wallace was ruled ineligible to compete in the 500 and had to scramble to put another deal together. “The last few days have been a whirlwind of phone calls and emails after Mike Wallace was not approved to be the driver of our Daytona 500 entry. After several days of non-stop communication with available drivers who could race a Ford, the pieces came together to place Chandler Smith in our car,” said Long. “I am super pleased to have Chandler in our seat. He has friends behind the wheel of the other cars. At Daytona, we will need all the friends we can find to help race our way into the show! There are a lot of really quality cars attempting this race, which could easily make the most exciting part of the 2025 Daytona 500 the race to be in the race. With Roush-Yates power and Chandler behind the wheel, the odds of Garage 66 and our No. 66 team making the event just got stronger.” The hood of the MBM Cup entry during Speedweeks will carry QuickTie, a proprietary, patented hold-down system for high wind and seismic construction. Quick Tie Products, which just celebrated its 25th anniversary, manufactures and distributes the QuickTie System and a full line of framing hardware for both single-family and multi-family construction. Coble Enterprises, which specializes in personalized property management for residential and commercial properties, remains committed to the No. 66 team in Daytona as an associate sponsor. The NASCAR Cup Series action during Speedweeks begins on Wednesday, February 12 with practice and single-car qualifying, leading into the Daytona 500 Duels on Thursday, February 13 that will determine the starting lineup for the Great American Race. The 67th Daytona 500 is scheduled for Sunday, February 16 at 2:30 pm ET. (Photo Courtesy NASCAR)

McDowell led a career-high 256 laps and earned six pole positions, the most of any Cup Series driver last season. “I am thankful to have Workforce onboard with us this season and I look forward to kicking off this new partnership at the Clash,” said McDowell. “It’s an exciting time for the sport, especially to be able to race at Bowman-Gray Stadium to start the year. I’m really looking forward to representing the Workforce team. Workforce aims to make sure that any injuries at the workplace are managed as efficiently as possible and, of course, you never want to see anyone get hurt at work. But if it does happen, Workforce eliminates so much unnecessary stress. I am looking forward to having them at the track as they celebrate their 30th anniversary.” “Workforce has now been involved in motorsports for many years and we genuinely understand the impact NASCAR provides in expanding our brand to potential new partners nationwide. We are excited to partner with Spire Motorsports and a seasoned veteran in Michael McDowell”, said Zachary Roberts, Workforce’s President and Chief Executive Officer. The Cookout Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium will kick off racing festivities for the 2025 season and will be televised live on FOX, Sunday, Feb. 2 beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. NASCAR’s annual pre-season exhibition race will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. (Photo Courtesy NASCAR)
